The Shawarmas arrived in Mexico thanks to Lebanese immigrants who settled in Puebla City, where they were baptized as "Arab Tacos", these in turn arrived to the Capital of Mexico (México City) and there they were given a radical twist. A new kind of Tacos served with the traditional corn tortilla and a unique preparation meat accompanied by pineapple, onion, cilantro, lemon and sauce became what are known worldwide as "Tacos al Pastor". A totally different flavor from its root, Shawarma, but just as delicious, definetely a dish that perfectly describes the flavor of Mexico, always remembering its oriental roots, which is why it continues to be served from a spinning top of meat. So Tacos al Pastor are a very Mexican food (and the most popular in México) with an oriental origin, so we see how two cultures come together and create something beautiful. Congratulations on your channel.

After the fall of the Ottoman Empire a lot of Lebanese ppl moved to Mexico hence the shawarma. One of the first iterations of a Lebanese and Mexican food mix was the “taco árabe” which were basically lamb tacos. A mix of middle eastern and Mexican cuisine. Modern “tacos al pastor” made from a “trompo” (shawarma) are usually made w/ pork instead of lamb.

💗 Actually there was a big Lebanese migration into Mexico and that is where we get our Tacos Al Pastor. While it is mostly prepared with pork and not Lamb, some dishes are made with Lamb such as Birria. With your Channel’s name I think you will find facts like this interesting. Blessings! 💗😃
