The human knows that the Opium Bird is neutral and is respecting its boundaries, maintaining a safe distance the creature is comfortable with and slowly getting closer as the bird gets used to them. Much like how we study gorillas in real life. The Opium Bird knows that the human is observing it and is letting them. But it does not eliminate the possibility that this creature is a threat so it too observes the human. The Opium Bird then lets the human approach it more and more as it begins to trust the human to the point where it seemingly tries to help them by wrapping its wings around them for warmth, knowing that humans are not built for this weather. The Opium Birds and humans appear to be on the same level of intelligence and understanding.

If they didn't start as a meme, it could work really well as a serious horror project. Unfortunately, since these creatures were born into meme culture, very few people would end up taking it seriously or appreciating it. If a lore was established, it would probably end up as some mix of random memes and slang terms intended to add to the absurdity and bring hilarity. Especially since this is not a project added upon by one definitive person or team, and is more built on by the internet as a whole. You could easily generate some of your own images with AI and add it to one of these videos and it would fit in.

This reminds me of a creepy dream I had when I was young: I was on the lookout point of a large city, and there was no one in the streets; everything seemed to be dead. After observing the views for a while with my telescope, I notice something at the lowest point of the city: a being about 10 feet tall, anthropomorphic, completely white and very hairy, facing away from me, looking at the riverbank. In my head, I think, "What is that thing?" but just as I'm about to utter those words in my mind, and completely abruptly, this being turns around and starts looking in every possible direction. Not even 5 seconds pass when it stops, with its gaze fixed entirely on me. That's when it starts doing the most bizarre dance. I couldn't describe it accurately, but I remember that its whole body moved chaotically except for its head, staring at me. Suddenly, it stops completely and emits a deafening scream. Immediately after, it starts running in my direction, never taking its eyes off me. That's when I woke up, completely alert and scared out of my mind. I remember it very vividly to this day, and this meme gives me chills because of the "I've been through this before" feeling.
