Ooh- loved that you've made a video on the mythology behind Orpheus. When I play SMT/Persona I always love reading about their divine inspirations

I love it too. I've been a big mythology buff for pretty much my entire life, and it's always exciting to make the connections between the games and those stories. It's especially fun when I meet a demon I've never heard of before and get to do research on a new culture or story.

Somehow missed the chance to make the obvious connection that, in going to Hades, Orpheus ALSO traveled through Tarturus. So another piece of him fitting nicely into Makoto's story.

The story where Orpheus goes to get Eurydise is strange for one reason: It's not the only time that story appears in mythology as a whole. There's a bunch of versions of it in various cultures throughout history. It's really weird considering a lot of said cultures didn't have connections to each other either.

Yeah, there are a lot. Ishtar and Dumuzid are the first that come to mind, but there are far more. I guess the story is just so old it goes back to the very earliest myths we have. Probably because wanting to bring back lost loved ones is such an innate desire in humanity. I love these cases of syncretism in mythology - the Flood Myth is my other favorite. Literally everywhere.
