You know, I'm from a third world country and I have met some some really fucked up yet tough men, like my maternal grandfather who lived through the Cristero war in his teenager years, he participated in battles, in the hanging of the cristeros from telephone posts, etc. His personality had nothing to do with these first world princesses pretending to be tough on video.

The whole reason they're called Vikings is that it comes from the norse word Vikingr which is essentially a pirate or raider. Many Norse folk weren't actually the warriors you think of but were farmers or fishermen. The whole idea of them being raiders stems from what was written about them from the perspective of those being raided who most likely would never even leave their villages.

The way my ex unironically had this mindset and it’s one of the biggest things we disagreed on. At first I was like ok cool because I’m quite driven as like a student and stuff and respect people who are. But like he took it to extremes and I had to tell him over and over that it wasn’t healthy to study for 14+ hours a day, and wake up at 4am to go for a run (and excessively work out) ect. And I still stand by it. He also didn’t have social media because he wanted to “live in the real world”, never played video games or anything which again fair- and read only self help books. Last time I was with him just before I broke up with him (unrelated to why I broke up) he brought 3 books from this gym bro redpill motivational speaker. He read some pages to me and yeah it was a yikes. And I heavily disagreed on a lot of it. He also judged how I spent my time if I “wasted” it talking to people online or watching KZfaq, or Netflix, or even reading fiction. He also didn’t get why I couldn’t when I kept explaining I have adhd and that sort of “lifestyle” would just never work for me, since I need stimulation and to be interested ect and I just am not and it’s also not healthy. Anywho I say this because I can confirm that it is not healthy, he had started going therapy but quit after 2 sessions because he was “healed”. I know he was traumatised and had a lot of issues- and was coping through studying and working out. And latching onto creators like this and I can see how it’s so harmful especially as it perpetuates a “men need to be tough” mindset which stops so many people like my ex from accessing help they need.

Best guess is, tiktok and youtube algorithms promoting a constant stream of hateful brainwash shit towards teenagers with insecurities and inherently developing brains - plus the slow realisation that now school is over they may have to work 9 to 5s at jobs they despise just to survive for the rest of their lives - push them to think they can rise above it all by mimicking musk or tate. Or at least, that's my pessimistic take on it

My best guess is, social media pushing hateful brainwashy content towards teenagers with insecurities and developing brains, combined with the realisation that if they aren't lucky they might have to work 9-5s at jobs they hate for the rest of their lives. They start thinking that if they mimick Tate or Musk they can rise above it all. At least, that's my pessimistic take

@@naustralinein a world where a lot of men won't ever express emotions, they limit their chances of connecting with other humans in various ways- then when that occurs, these people also lack any input from others and become a bit self obssessed, and don't ever question themselves. It's then a cycle- 1 don't express emotions, 2 lose chance of input of others 3 limit human connections 4 become lonelier 5 don't express emotions... so on... also this is a hard topic for me to explain my thoughts and sights on, but if anyone wants me to expand on anything i said, or wants to debate, please feel free- i don't assume what i'm saying is 'correct', but it is what i believe as apart of these men being the fruit of our society
