I lost my brother 3 weeks ago. I will never forget the last day I saw him alive. We were on the same plane heading over to Afghanistan, he was in the army, I am in the Air Force. As he left to go to his FOB I hugged him and said 'be safe...... I will see you soon. I love you' I fly rescue choppers and the on the Thursday of the 3rd week over there we got s call that a friend had stepped on an IED. I had a really bad feel about this call that I didn't usually have, so I got there and the medics went to go and fetch him. And when that got back I looked back to see if everyone was ready and I saw my brothers face. I have never flown as fast as I did that day..... But I wasn't fast enough he still died in hospital. I feel like it's my fault for not being fast enough. And now I will never be able to hear his voice again or hug him or anything like that...... Mom and dad I am so sorry that I couldn't do anything... I LOVE AND MISS YOU BRO :,'(((((

My grandfather was a chief master electrician on the U.S.S Harkness, and many other battle ships and destroyers. He joined the navy in 1942 and spent spent 40 years in the navy doing what he loved. My grandfather also passed in his sleep peacefully when I was 2 years old I been told he was around the world 18 times. He got a signed letter from Ronald Regan l that I have framed, along with his flag & shell casings. I did not get to remember my grandfather or what he looked like, but he loved me a lot and saved a lot of war bonds for me. I love him and wish I could have met him. He’s still a huge hero in my life

Being Scottish, and bagpipes being a huge part of our culture. I am humbled that the United States has kept the great highland bagpipes in their military. May peace be the journey. 🏴 🇺🇸
@christianmendozatapia295 Жыл бұрын
It started in east coast firehouses and Police stations back in the 1800s and trickled over into the military. Back then many scots/irish faced alot of discrimination and couldnt find work. So many took up law enforcement/fire fighting as a last resort for employment. Now any law enforcement/fire fighter/military personnel gets "the pipes" regardless of their color or background. You should be very proud of your ppl.

This gets me every time, I joined the army at 17 and was deployed to iraq at 19 two weeks after I turned 19. And where I was deployed we had been told that there had been quite a few deaths (us soldiers) so at 19 years old I had to write that letter that no one wants to and to this day I still have it. It is inside my flag in my flag case. Even to this day I think back and remember how hard it was to write that letter. Imagine being 19 and having to write a letter to your family telling them you was dead but not gone and to remember me for who I am and for why I was ok with not coming home because I was okay with sacrificing my life at 19 so that others wouldn't have to and to please not be sad but instead be happy knowing your son was fighting for you and everyone else in the United States and that's something to be proud of not be upset about. God bless each and every soul that is willing to put their own life at risk so others don't have to.

No soldiers are lucky for the place where they are deployed, but to be fair I'm French and was deployed in Afghanistan and then Mali and I think Iraq would have been even worse. What's hard to see is the families struggling or people in general struggling. Not shooting. One time a woman with her son (6 years old) were caught in a crossfire and the child was hit. I remember him crying and screaming and the mom trying to get us to save them. After the zone clear we went take care about them. Thanks for your service

My dad was stationed as a German soldier in Baumholder/Germany and this song was his favorite song... but I only found out years later after my mom wondered why I chose the same song as my dad as my favorite song . I'm proud of my dad, he served on both sides, US and German in the team, he was a paratrooper and after that he defuses explosives, what I think of it as more dangerous now is relative. I am proud of my dad and this song is my link to my dad through all the years. Thanks all around the World, for your Service! >3

And so many of our young men and women have died for it... died for a lie, maimed, shot and traumatized, so American imperialists can further their power. Edit: this doesnt apply to our warriors who truly fought for righteous causes: namely the revolutionary war, WWII, and the war of 1812, for example.
