Glad you touched on the tipping issue again. We bring a small amount of loonies and tunnies for tipping. When we run out, we buy them back with paper money.

Another great video. FYI. the emergency number in Cuba is three numbers. 106 for police. 105 for fire. 104 for ambulance. Luckily, I have never had to use them. If you do, make sure you bring your credit card ( non American) 😊

My wife and I went to this resort 8 times when it was called Sol Cayo Largo. We loved the staff and some became like family to us. We put up with food shortages, no running water, repetitive food but loved all the beaches in front as well as Playa Paraiso and Sirena. Then the 8th time my wife passed out at the pasta bar and was diagnosed with food poisoning. She was gravely ill for 2 days but started to come around the 3rd day.A Vet from Toronto had the same for 4 days. We really miss this resort but cause of mainly their food issues have not been back.😢

That’s really unfortunate. Being that sick is so terrible- I too have been sick when away- not at this resort but it is scary. Thanks for commenting.

they don't take coins because they're too heavy, and therefore too costly, for Cuban banks to air-transport them back to Canada to be exchanged to USD. Cubans are grateful for tips in any currency, but USD is the most prized.

Yes they have about 17 umbrellas for the beach- the lifeguards put them up for you🌴💕😊

How were the house flies. We were at Melia cayo coco in April and the outdoor restaurant food was crawling with them. First time I’ve ever seen it in 10 trips to Cuba. I really enjoy your videos

I think flys and bugs come and go depending on weather and rain!!! They weren’t bad at all!!! But when you eat outside there could be flys!!! I live in Ontario and when we eat outside fly do show up for dinner lol

How were the cockroaches in April at Melia? We saw them in the main buffet on the floors and walls.

@@slipperyjim1497 I didn’t see any roaches but at the beach restaurant everything was crawling with the house flies. On the plates, glasses, cutlery and all over the food. I’ve never ever seen that before in all my trips

@@gloriamiller5543 Thanks for reply. In May the flies were more of a problem at the beach restaurant. Not much of an issue at the buffet. To be expected in a tropical place unfortunately.

You should go now. All hotels in Cayo Largo are unable to have the minimum offer. Enormous shortage of food, drinks, We are still paying for an all inclusive. But without nothing or just the bare minimum

Oh Wow Like I’ve mentioned in all my videos Cuba is not for everyone!!! And Cuba has major problems and struggles, Yes I will be back in Cayo Largo in 2024 But I know what to expect!!! Thanks for your comment

Hi Mike, is El Rancho and outdoor grill for diamond club only or for everyone. I am going with my two daughters in a week. Can't wait to spend time at El Rancho. For returning gests, is it for any memories resort or it's returning to a same resort?

I went in May to a different resort in Cayo Coco and the food was horrendous. After 7 days of the same pork and chicken we couldn't wait to get home for a good meal. A lot of shortages. We certainly didn't see half the stuff that you showed. Beach was worth the suffering though.

@@Finding-Fish Melia Cayo Coco. We never saw anything like dill pickles, donuts, yogurt. We only had bacon 1 day and was short even things like bananas, milk, fries, potatoes, vegetables of any kind. Cuban people are hard working and the resort and the beach was awesome. The food didn't match with your videos though. You sure they weren't rolling out the red carpet for your cameras?
