There are a lot of Murealls in Norn Iron…and Miraids’ ,on the Catholic side.

One thing I learned (based on the bus tour of Belfast I took in 2015), is that whichever side of the "Peace Line" you find yourself, if the facial details of a hero to a particular community is shown on one of the gable walls, then the person in question was killed or has died (the Bobby Sands mural on the Falls Road is a case in point), if they're depicted in a balaclava, then they're at large. When I took my parents there, bearing in mind they lived through the Troubles between 1969 and 1998, they were shocked to realise that despite the Peace Lines being associated with the Troubles, to stop each side directly attacking each other (throwing stones, petrol bombs etc), more of them have gone up since the Good Friday Agreement. The gates on Lanark Way, which are open by day and locked at night, stand at the end of the largest of these. It features words spoken by famous people (such as former US President, Bill Clinton), the one that sticks in the mind the most being from the Dalai Lama: "Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your past,"

I think, I can understand different opinions, views, cultural traditions and (perhaps the worst reason of all) Religion, can lead to controversy or even conflicts, hatred and violence! What I certainly never understand, agree with nor support is, how personal views, opinions, acquired faith or even forced belief in things no human can ever understand nor prove, justify or testify, have been, are and most likely will fuel conflicts, wars, genocide and extinction! What do we humans actually know for absolute sure, concerning the existence of God? Absolutely nothing and it will not change unless or until God returns to Earth, providing he exists for real! Everything done or committed in God’s name or for religious reasons has purely and solely that one terrible and horrible purpose: gaining, maintaining and expanding power to achieve maximal control over everyone and everything and, of course, maximising profit! Just look around, see and realise what’s happening on Earth right now! Thousands and thousands years of human history, but no positive results or development in this matter and what is it, all those despicable deranged and absolutely deplorable conquerors, autocrats, tyrants, dictators, religious zealots and misleaders are gaslighting the masses with and push for chaos, anarchy and war? Gaining power and profit purely and solely for themselves and chaos and anarchy have always been the best tools for gaining their desired prey for maximum yield! God and religion have nothing to do with it, they are only the most suitable vehicle to fulfill their cravings!

Yes, they really love tourists. As I walked through both the Loyalist and Nationalist neighborhoods everyone was so kind and would tell me that they loved tourists because they felt that we gave them hope for a better future. Belfast is now an "international" city much like other European cities. By this I mean that they had a "Chinatown" basically a row of Asian shops and restaurants for a block on Donegal street. One of the locals told me that she actually liked their food even though she struggled at first with non-white immigrants moving to Belfast. There's a variety of different ethnic restaurants, many different kinds of "New Northern Irish" citizens of different kinds of ethnic heritage living there now with children born and being raised there. The neighborhood leading to the Titanic Museum looks like any North American city with, once again, different cosmopolitan feel, young professionals running, rollerblading, etc, along the developed waterfront.

We cannot wait to visit Belfast again, it exceeded our expectations and has so much to offer. Thank you for the new suggestions!

They are just under half a mile, so 10 min walk max.

There is a route to avoid going through the National Trust site to get to the Causeway, and you can walk to the bridge for free. It's only if you want to cross the bridge you need to pay a fee.
