Here I stand,
nothing more than a broken man starring death in the face.
All my mistakes have got a hold on me again.
Here we go,
another day, another fork in the road.
I never know who to trust,
will someone just tell me which way to go?
I need a sign.
I need a miracle!
I need to know that this is possible.
I've just failed so many times,
is there any way that I could make it right?
God, if you're there I need to hear you now!
Come back to me love, I forgive you.
Oh how I've missed you!
Just know every time you run I'll be right here waiting!
This is no ordinary love.
Listen up, Listen up!
This is no ordinary love.
Listen up this is unconditional!
I'm so afraid to admit that you're real
cause I'm afraid of what I might feel
when your words start to come to life
& it brings my demons into the light but I know you're here.
I shiver as you whisper in my ear, "Child have no fear".
Come back to me love, I forgive you.
Oh how I've missed you!
Just know every time you run I'll be right here waiting!
Come back to me love.
I hope you know I'm always with you.
I forgive you!
We lose faith in things unseen,
unsure of what to believe,
just dying to be loved when love's right in front of us.
We give up on our hopes & dreams, & let doubt take everything.
The door will open when we realize we don't hold the key.
I tried to save myself but I failed!
Come back to me love, I forgive you.
Oh how I've missed you!
Just know every time you run I'll be right here waiting!
Come back to me love.
I hope you know I'm always with you.
I forgive you!

xlujanx I absolutely agree. One song that did that for me was The Great I Am by Agraceful. Such a powerful song and when it ended...wow. Too bad they didnt release anything else before they broke up and when Christopher went to do lead vocals for Like Moths To Flame. Another great band and great track that did that for me again, was a track by Sent By Ravens called New Fire and once again, its sad they disbanded but maybe one day they will come back and release a new album. One last one would have to be I Never Wanted by As I Lay Dying - poignant and introspective lyrics and despite Tim's current situation, still to this day I listen to them

David Skinner it's how God forgives us no matter what we've done.its the story of the prodigal son who went out and spent all his dad's money which was his inheritance....then ended up broke and ashamed came back home and his dad welcomes him tho he thought he'd hate him.God does the same with us.we think God will shame us and deny us when we've done filthy terrible things but he doesn't when we repent. so I think it's a cross between a practical story of today... and the story of God's love like the bible story The prodigal son. Jesus bless u. sad yet redeeming video.almost cried when the dad didn't have his dollar or two for a small pint of milk.

I'm in tears right now... All always thought it was about a woman and thought it was one of my favorite songs until I decided to read the lyrics while singing along this morning. He's talking about God, and the chorus is not him saying it to a girl but god saying that to him. Spoke volumes in me just now especially "I shiver as you whisper in my ear, "Child have no fear"."

MrUtedude18 Think you need to rephrase the last part. You said: "Just because his beliefs contradict yours doesn't mean that they don't make bad music.".Which if not mistaking is the same as saying: "They make bad music because they are Catholics". Which would be a lie, for even atheists accept MMF makes excellent music.

As a dad, I have seen my own boys turn away from what I taught them. To this day, they still travel down the wrong path. My heart breaks for them. All I can do is love them unconditionally as God does, and encourage them to consider how much God loves them, and pray for them.

sometimes just because it isn't what you taught them doesn't mean it's "wrong." you and your children are able to hold different views and live your lives differently, and that's okay. as long as they aren't harming others with their actions and they are happy, isn't that what matters most?

what is great about this song is that there are many meanings that this can be interpreted as. If you are religious this song could be talking about God's unconditional and eternal love. But if you aren't, like I am, you can still connect to it in the sense that there are always people there who will always stand by us and be there to guide us no matter what. Either way it can mean something special to everyone. Regardless of religion or beliefs, there is no need to belittle what it means to anyone.

I always see people getting upset because one or two out of hundreds of other metal core bands are Christian. But that's exactly it, Memphis is only one out of HUNDREDS of bands in this genre and they're a band that's brave enough to talk about Christ. You can find a different band who either doesn't talk about it at all or even talk against it! :) No one told you to listen to a CHRISTIAN metal band, so if you don't like it, go find another one with a different message and let us enjoy the awesome sounds of metal! After all, most bands in this genre do sound the same :)

True, i think there should be no band discrimination just because of the way they write their lyrics. I love bands like MMF as much as i enjoy bands like Goodbye Kills or Attila as long as they got talent. It's up to them to write whatever they want to as much as it is up to us to listen to whatever we want to.

Lifeispain411v2 I live by the new testament. I'm not saying I agree with tattoos, I personally just don't like them but however that's not my place to decide for someone else. Jesus died so we wouldn't have to live by law, because if we did have to live by law, none of us would make it....SALVATION! You won't get in by your own effort. All we have to do is just ask forgiveness, and accept him and we are free! THAT SIMPLE! (What you do past that point is a different story.) Do you think because we were born into sin we won't make it? You should know the answer to that It's the same as tattoos. A tattoo doesn't really mean anything. Some of their lyrics are "The next time you feel the right to preach about commandments you know you do not keep REALIZE THAT IS WAS GRACE THAT SAVED YOU and do us all a favor, keep your self righteous mouth shut" But yeah as to spreading the message of a law that was fulfilled and made void by Jesus himself, that's defeating the purpose. That's why we as born again Christians should live a life of forgiveness. Because he forgave us first, we can forgive others. :)

It's literally the opposite, listen to the lyrics clearly, this is not a song about a father trying to win his son back. It's a religious song. "I shiver as you whisper in my ear" is referring to god/jesus "I'm so afraid to admit that you're real, because I'm afraid of what I might feel" of course he knows his father exists, but the 'father' is a metaphor for god. I'm not religious by the way, just what I take from these lyrics after looking at them more closely.

Love the song and the message. I am so glad and it's so refreshing to see a band stand up for their beliefs and preach God among our society where he is practically nonexistent. And for all of you saying we are hypocrites and intolerant I'm sorry but everyone is a hypocrite and has done wrong in their lives. And we are intolerant about the sins not the people I mean Jesus hung out with tax collectors and other sinners to to try and save them as should we. We are only preaching what God teaches in His word and I pray you will hear His love and message God bless you all.

What, and you think that bands like August Burns Red who don't always sing about their faith aren't just as effective? The important part is the interaction with the fans not necessarily the music. The faith will come out in the music, but the people must also talk about it as well.

lol except its not, that's just the video you are associating the lyrics with. Considering Matty is a Christian, if you look at it from that perspective (with an understanding of the Gospel) it takes a view of God speaking to the believer who continues to fail but finally trusts in God to take on the weight of their sins. I could go into more detail but I do not have the time :)

You're right. The video is a metaphor for how God is like the perfect father. Always forgives us and teaches us and sets us back in the right direction. As long as we admit we did wrong and turn to Jesus for help he will always be there with open arms, just how that kids Dad was. A beautiful metaphor really. =]

The point of this song and video is to show that after all that this mans son had done, his father still loved him and forgave his sons mistakes. It's the same way between us and God. We are the children who rebelled, and He still loves us and forgives us.

In all honesty I didn't think of God and Jesus in this. I thought of the bond between a father and a son, how we grow distant from the people that love us over time but they still love us no matter how much we hurt them and how they stand waiting for us with open arms. I guess it's just how you interpret the song. Idk.

That's exactly what Jesus does for us bro. We do wrong things everyday, and He stands there with open arms calling us back to Him. Check out the story of the prodigal son in the Bible. It's the same exact story as the video. Like... the exact same. A picture of what Christ has done for us.

RafeedHossainTV You are actually right, Matty wrote this song about a prodigal son type of story. But myself being Christian this also relates not only about an earthly father and son, like me and my father. but also my father God talking to me. She died in the pandemic, I haven't seen my Father since a while before then when I was homeless and he almost got me killed on the streets. He is trying to reconnect, but I cannot find a reason to embrace it. I miss my Mom. What he did to us.. to her.. 😡 I get the story, it hits me where it hurts, very well done.

This entire music video and its message would be beautiful in itself if it were left alone, but it's even more beautiful when you realize that it's an allegory for our relationship with God when we sin, which is what the song is about. It's a very practical analogy, no complicated theology required.

This hits me right at the heart. With the video and all. It reminds me of my mom and I. I was such a brat to her and she'd tolerate me and my mistakes and still gave me a lot of things. (Money to concerts, money to hang with friends, money to buy my clothes, junk food basically everything even though she struggled to pay bills and needs) I hung out with the wrong group of people and I didn't know what I turned into. I'd fight with her a lot. Until one day it went really bad and she cried. I made her cry so many times until I decided to fix myself. She loves me and accepts who I am and we can talk to each other about anything now. No matter how much you want to deny it, someone is always there for you even at your worse times. This just happened to be my one and only mom.

I assure you that when their next album comes out, people will say this was one of their best albums. It has been, and always will be the same opinions, bands need to switch it up to keep things fresh, if they don't, they are seen as being lazy, make too much of a change, they are called sellouts. It's been a steady decline since I've returned from afghanistan. my PTSD makes it hard to get a job and im just starting to lose hope. in fact the only thing that still gives me hope is this song. it reminds me that no matter how far I fall, when I finally do make it back to the graces of God he will welcome me with open arms. It's the only hope I have anymore.

Hi Devin, Don't wait, just come back to Him now :) You don't have to have it all together to be with God. I have had questions, trials, doubts, but I know He sticks with me and I with Him. Being Christian doesn't mean you never go wrong. It means that you believe in Jesus who redeems and sanctifies you, and makes a new person out of you. God bless!

I'm a Christian. And being one is extremely hard. I fail to live up to God's standards every day and sometimes I even doubt, but ultimately I know there's a God that loves me whether I fail or succeed. There's a lot more to being a Christian than just living in Christ. I admire you for putting this on here based on the fact that there are so many people that bash and make fun of someone for wanting to believe. But what It comes down to is between you and Christ. No other person should be apart of that relationship. If you don't choose to accept him now, he'll always be there with open arms when you do.

I will never forget this song. I first heard it right before a suicide attempt. I was intent on doing it and was listening to Octane on Sirius XM. It stopped me in my tracks. I finally looked up what the song waa about and I was surprised. Later on I did go forth with that suicide attempt but somehow survived. I knew then that there had to be a God. There was no way I survived what I did without any harm. No one even knew what I did until like a year later. (Not saying what it was because Im not giving ideas as this was a unique one). So here I am 7 years later writing this to tell anyone who is going through depression and suicidal thoughts that there is a way out and there is hope. I found Jesus about 3 years after I had first heard this song. I remember the altar call at Warped Tour in Houston and though that wasn't the moment, it really stuck with me. This song is a part of my testimony and now a part of my first book. So for all those out there hearing this for the first time of maybe listening again searching for hope, Im here to tell you that yes, this is God reaching out to YOU. There is hope in this crazy thing called life. Don't give up. Life really does get better. I went from homelessness, living with all different people (whoever would take me in), to buying my first home this April. I have a 5 year old now who is one of my many reasons to keep holding on. I have a job that I never thought I could have gotten without a college degree. Im a leader in the church when just 4 years ago I was an atheist. Im telling you this not to boast in any way but to show you that there is hope and it comes with having a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Be encouraged my friend, you are not alone. God is with you and always has been. Hes just waiting for you to run back into His arms.

This video/song is amazing! It points out that even when we take advantage of God's grace, and run from him He still loves us and forgives us. I love the end when the father actually goes out to find his son. It's a perfect picture how God is the one that is always pursuing us even when were not. Memphis May Fire, you nailed this one.

Ranting for a minute: Okay, Matty Mullins is a Christian. The band itself isn't categorized as a "Christian band", that's a dumb label; they are simply just another rock band. Lots of bands are composed of Christian members, so you could say that makes them a Christian-oriented band. Matty incorporates his faith 100% into his work and it shows. I'm a Christian, and his lyrics move me and they're inspiring. I think that it's awesome that Matty uses our religion to express himself through his writing and performing, it's very empowering. He is very brave to be public about his religion, knowing how judgmental our society has become. If you don't like that, leave the video, and PLEASE don't comment on how much you despise it or don't like it, because that's only polluting the comment feed and irritating the people who came to the video because they actually enjoy the music that is being made, your presence isn't wanted here. 😡😤 Rant over. Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

It's great cuz this is how to reach the lost and non believers. Honestly I think Christian music turns off non believers. It's just meant to be for people who already are Christians I'm not saying that's bad but it's an inward focus that is too easy when life as a christian is not supposed to be "easy". It's up to the holy Spirit ultimately to change peoples hearts but I do not think how condescending of music other than "christian" music helps. The christian music industry is also just like all other music, guess what? An industry they are out there to make money just like everyone else. I was raised in a Christian family and go to church. And I've noticed that only people who are already believers go to our church we have like 0 new believers or conversions. Christians seemingly stick to themselves from what I've observed. I commend and applaud Matty for getting out there and shining Christ's light no matter what. I ranted a good bit too 😂😂

@@connorsmith7784 So much truth there, We are called out of darkness into the light not just to know the light but also to bring the light to the darkness, and Matty does this very well. We Nee More Bands Like This. period. To many days is there times i need some heavy music to keep me calm and focused on whats important and unfortunately that playlist is to short. All im saying is if you feel the need to share this way like these guys do, make it happen. That being said im going to take some of my own advice lol. Rant complete

God I can't tell you how many times I cry every time I heard this song and see this video. It's one of those songs that I always try to avoid and not because it sounds awful, but I always burst into tears. But yet comeback from time to time because it such a powerful and good sounding song. (This is coming from someone who barely even cries in his lifetime.)
