It's okay if you by bad luck got married with this kind of guy. You just have to divorce him real fast as soon as he showed you his true color. Dont give him second chance or try to change him because those shits wont change that easily.

I normally don't disagree with the hosts/guests on the concern level...but I do think this is still a concern. He doesn't sound like he really values her as a person let alone as a woman. She is his pillow and his maid and better damn well do it all with a smile. She gets up, cares for the kids, goes to work, comes home, cooks, serves him, cleans, helps with homework, and has to be harassed by him at night on top of god knows what else all without a single thank you. So she takes two nights out of the week for herself to let off steam and remember that she is someone of value (probably so she doesn't do something regrettable to her husband) and curses when, exhausted and under appreciated, he gives her nothing but complaints ...AND SHE IS THE ONE THAT HAS TO CHANGE?!?! no...no no no no no. He needs to change first. Pure and simple. She will stop cursing and yelling at him the SECOND she actually feels appreciated. I can only hope that he didn't just say what he thinks they wanted to hear and then makes 0 changes once they get home. Also...kinda ticked at the one girl from April putting any of the responsibility on the daughter to serve as peace maker. She's a teenager with her stresses (thanks Korean educational system) who does NOT need to be worrying about how her parents are doing things....

Put it that way (haven't watched the ep yet), sounds to me that what she has is an all-day *job* and *NOT a marriage.* If she put out her frustrations and he's not willing to seriously listen and compromise, then he's not really a husband, more like a client or a boss.

The celebs that say it's not a serious concern but if they were put in that position I think they'd feel the same as the wife. Just him saying the kitchen is her territory is a problem. The kids suffer from this and the mom is so stressed and frustrated. Only so many complaints you can take. She feels used and unappreciated while he thinks of how many perfectly made side dishes he should have and how he should sleep peacefully. Gosh. Even at the end he still talking about side dishes till the hosts told him to say something nice. It is a concern.

Why are they so concerned about how much she curses? Saying things toward people with the right inflection without any curse words can be even more hurtful. ie “What are YOU doing here” or “How can you be THAT incompetent” - at least cursing is just a way to get the angry feelings out. I think the bigger issue here is that the guy treats his wife as an object, literally just needs her to cook and lay in bed with him? Imagine how lucky he is that he got a wife who cooks that much for him, I mean seriously how can you find a person like that in the world... The rest of the stuff he brought up was basically just a distraction from her issue. I mean, he was so smug and satisfied every time he admitted what she said was right - he sees nothing wrong with what he’s doing??!?!

Cursing in Korea is seen differently as it is in western countries such as Germany. I'm hearing here so many times curse words were I can just roll my eyes. But in Korea they have the honorifics with different stages on how to talk to elders, which I really envy. Also the husband is older, so that's why they might be so shocked too
@3xitthissid3

exactly. Her behavior is just a symptom of his treatment towards her. _He_ needs to cut out his bs in order for her to stop cursing, etc. - and not the other way around. It's so dismissive when people nitpick her and focus more on her wrong doings than his.

They need a marriage counsellor to be able to work on their differences as a couple. Both are at fault in this situation and it sucks that their kids are at the centre of it all. The husband is a caveman like Jack Moon from last weeks episode of Wife Swap. Any man who says that the Kitchen is a woman's job should be single for the rest of his life and needs to starve. You should never sweat for such men; they don't deserve it.

The daughter fears her parents will divorce, which is understandable. I felt the same about my parents. However, sometimes a relationship is just so toxic, it is irreconcilable. There needs to be boundaries made for the sake of the children. The wife is used to retaliating to the stubbornness and childlike behavior the man is displaying, which is unfortunate. To think the wife married young and had thought her husband would be a dependable man with some level of maturity being 6 years her senior, is what saddens me. This society is so patriarchal that we have a woman like her working to support her family then coming home to take care of all the needs of a healthy adult man, yet we question her when she has something to say against it. An enabler when she gives in, abusive when she retaliates, attention seeker when she complains, a failure if she leaves. Maybe I am sympathetic to her position because of what I saw what happened to my family. When a woman is abused in various ways without her consent having married at a young age, don't attack her for her callousness after she spent years building up a wall. One's thoughts become irrational and defensive in the later years. She will need counseling. Even individuals who have outstanding upbringings and great emotional intelligence can break under certain conditions.
@3xitthissid3
@3xitthissid3 5 жыл бұрын
Amen. How can people expect her to act rational, considerate, "mature", and all these adjectives while dealing with someone like him, who refuses to resolve the issues verbally (when the wife brings up a complaint and he dismisses it), is beyond me. She's been reasonable, if you ask me. In fact, she's been more than kind & considerate considering she continued to cook him the 7 side dishes despite not wanting to. Homegirl should just throw in the divorce papers and have him come home to no food on the table. Men like that act like they can't be bothered to cook ("oh, but I don't know how to"), but as soon as they're separated and alone, suddenly they have these skills (cough cough my father). people like that are just manipulative and trying to get off doing stuff. There's no reason for the wife to be bending over backwards just to change his behaviour, like some people commented. I'm glad to find a comment that's compassionate and understanding of the wife.

My father are really like this man. When my family went to a restaurant, it has to be my father's choice. If its up to us and he didn't like it, he won't eat. He always make the situation like make us felt guilty, its your fault cz I can't enjoy it, gave unpleasant reaction (nasty gaze) about the food.. even if that's my mother who made it, if he don't like it (just by staring at it, not even taste it), he'll make that gaze. Me and my sibling are also can eat anything, but bcz of my father who can't eat certain food, we need to deal with it. My father often went to other town, and when he come home, me and my sibling just said, mom, your youngest son are home.

its kinda annoying how the panel was having so much fun and laughing about it while the whole time the wife was soooo sad looking...hes obviously just a misogynist.

So many parents fighting in front of their kids. These kids will grow up traumatized and end up on this show years later.

How can someone put this problem on a TV show..? I mean how? They need medical and psychological help rather than TV show...! This is a real Cultural shock for me...!

I don't know if I'm missing something that they do afterwards and somebody let me know if they do but I don't really see any great counseling. Is this just a show for entertainment sake? Because they needed to say here's what you need to change and here's what you need to change for both parties and they never do that
