CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Boris the Animal (Jemaine Clement) meets a pair of hippies at Coney Island. Then, J (Will Smith) is racially profiled by a pair of cops.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Men in Black are back, and this time Agent J (Will Smith) must take a trip into the past in order to save both the future and his taciturn partner Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) in the third installment of the hit sci-fi comedy series. After 15 years of working with aliens from all across the cosmos, Agent J is sure he's seen it all. But just when he's getting the hang of the game, he learns that history has inexplicably been rewritten. In this new timeline of events, Agent K has been dead for 40 years, and Earth will soon come under attack from an extraterrestrial force with the power to claim the entire planet. Now, in order to set the past straight and head off an invasion of epic proportions, Agent J must travel back to the year 1969, when Young Agent K (Josh Brolin) was just a fresh new face on the force. But Agent J only has 24 hours to find the source of the coming catastrophe and discern how his longtime partner ties into the situation -- should he fail he'll be stuck in the past forever. @BoulderBro999 why? The original Men in Black comics dealt not with aliens specifically, but with all kinds of paranormal stuff, including demons. And it had a more interesting tone, the original Jay wasn't such a comic relief character, but a better POV character, basically every encounter was something completely new for him and he was expected to adapt and deal with the situation no matter what. It had more of a SCP Foundation vibe, I suppose. Would be cool to see a more faithful adaptation of the comics someday.

I had to think because, I don't think of them as "black people" at least not in the stereotypical sense. So, you're right. It's a small portion of the population. Not 2% since black men between 13-35 is over 4% of the total population and they are the ones responsible for 45% of all murders, robberies, etc. in the nation according to the FBI schedule 40-4X every year. There's a very big elephant in that room that nobody will talk about even though you can't move....

Love this scene for a lot of reasons: 1. Jay isn't surprised or shocked at being profiled. A lot of time-travel movies or stories where a someone arrives at a segregated place, they act all confused, like they never heard of racism before. Jay's not dumb, and while not pleased by it, was already mentally prepared, and decided to have soem fun in the past. 2. Jay's comical admittance that he did steal the car, and his quick assertion that it wasn't because he was black. Really funny moment. 3. Thanks to the neuroliser, Jay may have helped a few people from that time. Now there's two cops who just had the profiling brainwashed out of them, so someone's granpa in the present was probably spared a wrongful detention or police assault thanks to Jay's actions.

This movie is so vastly superior to the second in every single way possible its almost as if its from a different film series. I have a soft spot for MIB2 also but that movie if we're talking from a film perspective is utter and complete shit. This is actually a well told story about time travel with an emotional core. The second movie was basically a Mercedes/Lingere ad starring a shitty actress and a CGI dog.

The hippy reminded me of year 2 (I think, thereabouts anyway) when we had a 60s day and I dressed up as a hippy. I tried the old catchphrase of "Love, peace, not war" but I was tiny so I kept muddling the words and spent most of the day saying "Love war, not peace". Looking back, I'm proud of me. Task failed successfully.
