Dental hygienist here. You should always try to floss before you brush. The reason is because you want to get gunk out before so you can brush it off. Most of the time brushing will not be able to get inter-proximally(between)teeth.

This is unrelated but for flossing, I use the floss sticks, should I be using the same 1-2 and rinse them off and toss them after or do I just floss in between 2 teeth, toss them and use another

I don't recall watching women's channels that give as much simple & affective advice on hygiene as the men's. (Not saying that they don't.)
