@juli0505vk: Because this event is the Winter Olympics, not the Winter X Games. This snowboard cross event is about racing to the finish line. Tricks would only take too much time, because it entails being suspended in the air.

If you notice they are using alpine or carving snowboards in which they do indeed use hardboots.
