Apollonia, I just had one on one coaching with you last week and we discussed very similar things. Everything you said here is true, even if it’s not something us men want to acknowledge. I feel like the unstructured, impromptu nature of this video really shows that you’re truly feeling it and it comes off so genuine. I can speak for myself, and I’m sure plenty of other men; this was needed and appreciated more than you know and it will help tremendously.

I believe that is a big roll. A lot of us men out here didn't feel love by our mother but it was just her responsibility to raise us, so growing up trying to date we never experience what real love is besides what the move shows and that what we can put into our arsenal of things to show a woman. But feeling love by a significant other is difficult if you have never seen or felt what it actually is. Shout to the sons and mother who do have bound because most of the men, maybe 60 to 75% probably only feel that real love from their kids, if they see them, you know what I mean. I don't know how your videos popped up over the last few weeks but good advice always comes in handy no matter where it comes.

This is video that resonates with me. I am currently in EMDR. My therapist and I are arriving at the mother wound doorsteps. This wound is the hardest wound for me to heal from. After, I heal from this wound, my therapist said, my life will be so different and I will show up more authentic. For the men, have the courage to feel your emotions and be strong. With this combination, we become a super force! Again, it takes courage to be vulnerable but remember to have the discernment when to be vulnerable. When we do this, we allow others to be their true selves. This is true leadership, from my perspective. Hit the weights and get your mind and heart right!

I lost my mom 13 years ago. I was her only son. My mom was an angel. She never smoked, drank, did drugs, nothing. My mother was married to my dad for 60 years. My parents never strayed. My mother was the best French cook and my father the best Italian cook. I am blessed, but recognize, at 58 I will never meet someone like them again, and I am ok with that.

Im a middle son . I got 4 brothers. My mother mostly treats me like garbage because I refuse to conform to her preconceived notions of how she expects us to be since she is a narcissist. She doesnt even attempt to understand me as person whatsoever and has no problem nitpicking everything I do and everything about me . She has no problem shaming me in front of other people as well . This made me a very angry individual my entire life and that messed up every prospective /potential relationship because I came accross as being too angry. Because of all this ,I get very angry when women play their "hard to get "game because perhaps im desperate to get or feel any validation from women because I barely got it from my mother . But you know what ,I have accepted that I have a problem with my anger and temper and I have been trying by all means to heal including therapy and so on . Hopefully ,it will lead to much needed healing .

This was a great video for me personally. I'm very close to my Mom, but she has been a "larger than life" personality in my life and tended to interfere somewhat with my relationships with other women, including the marriage I had with my ex-wife. So I'm not a "mama's boy" in the traditional sense, but I do admire my Mom a lot. She divorced my Dad and married a brilliant physicist (and my Dad is also a brilliant physicist) so caught up in the whole thing was the fact that she has a PH.D in Theoretical Chemistry and tended to judge my Dad when his career was not going well. I lived with my Dad for 9 years, then returned to finish high school with my Mom during my senior year after my Dad finally remarried. So I'm very aware of issues that cause me to doubt myself related to my relationship with my Mom, and I'll bet that a lot of other men feel the same way because these things are almost taboo in our culture... so many men have bought into the "Lone Ranger" myth and think that if they are the strong and silent type, then they are being masculine. So keep up the good work, because your insights as a young mother of a boy that will someday be a man are relevant to your coaching practice, and this video proves it. One of your best videos, in my opinion. For more on this, check out the book "Unmasking the Lone Ranger" by the late Frank Wilson. It's about how men need to learn to take off the mask in order to really become intimate with the women in their lives.

I was really hoping this video would talk about the real reason behind this topic and something that was not mentioned. The role of having a father. I agree with all the issues talked about. But a mother can not show a boy how to move and live in this world as a man. She only has an idea in her mind..not the idea from a man that has lived it. You can tell the difference when you talk to a man that has a positive male masculine energy influence. All the issues mentioned are minimal. Sons as well as daughters need a male role model. Because they will spend a lifetime searching for it.

Thanks so much for this video. I think my relationship with my mother isn't that bad, she can be a bit harsh sometimes but she is the closest person to me in my life. I watched this video because my relationship with my mother has become sour over the last two or three years because I lost my connection to the religion she raised me with. I feel indoctrinated by my upbringing and that has brought a big strain on me and my mother's relationship. This also made my connection to my ex girlfriend difficult, leading to a painful breakup. I don't think she will ever come back to me because she knows that my mother is not going to accept her and I have some pther problems which she can honestly just avoid by dating others. I wish things weren't so difficult. My mother is the only person in my life who is so attached to the outcome of what I choose to believe. I wish she was more accepting of my decisions, because if I just go against everything she ever taught me, I dont know if she would be able to handle it emotionally, shes a single mom and has given everything for me. Also we live in a foreign country and I don't see my mom socializing very much, so that concerns me as well, I can't just move out and distance myself so that I can date more. It's strange going to church now compared to when I was younger because it just feels like Im being indoctrinated. I understand that religion forms a support system and makes people happy because they believe in positive things and in Jesus, but I just find it hard to believe that God requires faith and sends us to hell if we don't believe. I dont know if he's real! Why is he going to send me to hell if I dont know that?

One social meet up group I attended lately, one of the guys there told me he sadly didn't get his very first girlfriend until he was 30, while he is happy about having a girlfriend now, he still gets kind of depressed and bitter and resentful over having been single that long. Feels he didn't grow up having a normal youth because of being single that long. Causes him to envy and feel resentment and feel bitter when he sees couples out there younger than him. He has the mindset that he feels if he had been born a woman at least an average plain-looking woman, then there is a guarantee he would not have been alone or single that long. Since women are always guaranteed attention or dating options because for all time women have always been on the receiving end of sexual attention. A lot of guys hate and resent how nature and reality dictates that men have to make the first move all the time and be the initiators and do the pursuing but unfortunately there's no other way. Yet people think men still have the better end of the stick in the dating world than women do, especially when men are far more likely than women are to be single that long, be alone or single longer, or to have a lonely journey, yes men and women each have different difficulties or different issues to deal with but being alone or single later than normal is normally never an issue or never a problem for women. He says he feels angry and mad whenever people and Society say that he should feel grateful that he has a girlfriend now and that he has no right to feel angry and bitter that he was single and alone that long. Or why get angry and upset about what didn't happen in the past. Well he has a right to feel how he wants to feel. Probably because women are just a guaranteed options and attentions for just existing and breathing or having a pulse but it's not true if you're a guy or a human male. Men have to learn all of these skills or behaviors or know how to talk and behave a certain way or act a certain way to attract women( I got even more pissed off when a guy said that men also have to learn how to talk a certain way and behave a certain way or act a certain way in order to get a job or get certain social ranking in Society), that pissed me off a lot because that's a different issue and that's a different matter and plus the way you talk and behave and act in order to get a job or get social ranking in Society is different than what it takes to attract women, women however since they play a passive role, I just don't understand why or how women have to learn any skills in order to attract men, I just don't get it, that doesn't require any learning or I just don't see how it requires any learning. It's stupid and mind-boggling that women would have to learn any skills to attract men or how to meet men when they don't have to do any thing in the courtship phase the man is doing everything. So yeah I get very mad and annoyed that there is even dating advice for women on how to attract men But yeah I get very angry whenever people think men have it better than women do in dating. I feel like I can relate to him because I didn't really have a breakthrough or a long-term relationship until my early 30s, I'll forever be sad and depressed and bitter and resentful that I didn't have a long-term relationship in my 20s. Yet people still think men have it better than women do when in fact women have always been and always will be less at risk than men do at being chronically alone or single later than normal like I described. It won't surprise me if you are the type of guy or the type of person who has the mindset that it's better to be a man than it is to be a woman at the end of the day. Overall, I will forever be angry and bitter, resentful, that I didn't have a girlfriend until later than normal. I remember when one person told me that I should just be glad that I was able to get a girlfriend or have a girlfriend now and enjoy the fruits of my labor and that just made me more angry and pissed me off even more it sounds like that person has the mindset or mentality that a guy or a man should still be happy that even if he finally managed to get a girlfriend even in his 50s or 60s or as a senior citizen. Yeah I have the mindset that women are the only gender that are owed a relationship but men are not. It naturally feels like women are owed a relationship but men are not, because when you're on the receiving end of sexual attention it means that you always have options and choices or it just means that you are in abundance by default for simply just existing.

I was drugged and assaulted by my mother several times as a child. Once I got old enough by law, she abandoned me. My dad raped me when I was a kid and mentally abused me through out my entire life. I think I'm on the right path in life. 75% of the time I think so. I know how to nurture a romantic relationship I'm in and know when to cut it off if circumstances won't make it stable for her sake or mine. I know that for certain but it may be funny coming out of my own mouth. This woman is very aware of her surroundings and very virtuous- she isn't attracted to money or looks. I am grateful for her. I'm sure if you've gone through some serious hell, there will be treasure at the other end of the tunnel you're in. There will be near impossible times, but things should get better because there is such a thing as polarity.

Well, it's about time. The only video I actually liked. But it's too late for me. The damage is done. I'm too old to do anything. My upbringing would make a Stephen King Novel. There were never any monsters under the bed or in the closet because the monster gave birth to me and raised me. Then I end up marrying a copy of the monster. I've learned, to not feel anything anymore. Emotions got me beaten, so now, I don't show them. I make sure to hold myself accountable whenever I feel emotions begin to form. I'm not good in society, so I stay by myself or put on an academy award act. But make no mistake, a creature who shows no emotion also gives no warning. So yeah, you're right when you talk about the importance of how a mother's love or lack there of can form the soul of a young boy. About time you pulled your head out of hiding and made a video that was worth a damn.

My brother, you may be too old for that but it's never too late, to show love the same way you can see them in movies. It will take time but you are doing there right thing keeping your emotions in check because it can play a role in how a lady will feel about you. All us men are taught to man and bottle our emotions, but your upbringing should hold you back from showing and woman that you do mean something to her. I don't care what your age is but your time to love will show. Stay positive. Life has only just begun. Just remember 1 thing, no relationship is perfect just don't over do it or be by yourself when you are hurt. Talk to your lady friend about it, and that's why women are more understanding and sympathetic because they can understand what you feel. Stay safe my brother. Your life has yet to flourish the way I know it will. From a black brother to another brother black or white.
