I've always loved how much you respect and care for your clothes and shoes 🙂 You really appreciate what you have. And inspire other to do the same! It is so refreshing in our throw-away fast-fashion society. I always mend our clothes when needed and use the talent of our shoemaker to give shoes (or belts) a longer life. Just like my parents and grandparents did 💕They survived World wars and learned the hard way. Of course we can't keep things for ever but they should be appreciated, as well as how lucky we are to have them. Thank you for your tips and the format (sharing your tips with us as if we were doing it along with you) was very cool 🥰

Hi Signe! For washing whites, try adding a cup of white vinegar to your rinse cycle. This will remove any traces of detergent, which is often what causes yellowing, especially while whites are stored. Any smell of vinegar when you take the wet clothes out of the machine will go away once the clothes are dry. It's also worth adding a cup of baking soda as well as your detergent to each load of whites, as this helps a lot with removing stains and keeping them fresh looking and really white.

Very inspiring video again, Signe! Thank you!! I started the now-buy with you and failed already in a way that wasn´t necessary :-/ during my whole family including 3 kids had Corona in February I got weak... in March I started again, and your videos help so much! Also bringing some spring/summer pieces out of storage made me feel strong again :-) Thank you! Looking forward to your next videos

Thank you for such a relaxing and helpful video - I've discovered that I also really enjoy mending. And I love that you call them bubbles! I've always heard them called pills, but bubbles sounds friendlier.

I enjoy wardrobe maintenance work. A lot of my mending and alterations are done on my machine, but I find hand-sewing really relaxing. I put on a recorded book, or some classical music, R&B or soft jazz, and happily work through my pile. I just found a separated seam on a nightgown, and my machine is already threaded with the right color, that’s next. I was going to treat some shoes with protective spray today, after cleaning them, but we had that very shy visitor for California, rain, today (I have to use sprays outdoors, they’re gaggy).

Been enjoying your KZfaq channel for some time now. Everything is very beautiful (need that). I decided to de-ball my sweater while watching - very efficient and fun use of time : ) I have the Conair Battery Operated Fabric Defuzzer, Black (model CLS1BLKC), and it works very well for anyone that needs a cheaper alternative. Thanks for the info on the Vanish "gentle". I cannot source it in Canada, but maybe it will come here someday.

I even like ironing and steaming clothes, so long as it’s cool where I’m working. After years of thinking I hated them, I realized that I was just overheating, that’s what made me grumpy, not the work itself. So, I do it in the cool of the morning, and never at the last minute, the clothes need to dry afterward, anyway, or they’ll just rewrinkle when worn. I just finished ironing my summer linen dresses and shirts, we had an 84F degree day last week, the heat is coming soon. My summer trousers and skirts were finished in the autumn, then stored on hangers, covered in white cotton sheets. It’s also time to wash, dry and store my sweaters and other woolies. I don’t store anything that isn’t freshly washed, or dry-cleaned (blazers and coats), to prevent moth damage and stains being set (some stains, like milk or white wine, might not show until they have been set in storage for months, then it’s too late to remove them). Cotton sweaters are all that’s necessary for summers where I live.

I have always meddled, hemmed and repaired my clothes. Although I have had to do it by hand lately, as I don’t have a machine, I don’t mind. I did recently have to retire two of my oldest cashmere sweaters. I wore them all the time and put elbow pads on them, however, they finally wore out under the arms. Gave them to my friend who hooks rugs.

Hi Signe, for the white blouse try using bicarbonate and peroxide ( making a paste) and apply it before washing it. For me it work perfectly.😘

Thank you for sharing this video. I wanted to share I have dyed black clothes in the past. I didn’t use my washer due to I was worried about dye residue in my washer. I would use a large pot made of enamel steel that I designated just for dying my black clothes. You need to make sure to submerge the clothing completely and move it around during the process to avoid crease marks. After that I would rinse the clothes in my sink until water was looking more clear. after that I would launder with the rest of my dark clothes. It is time consuming but it was worth the work if you like that item. My dry cleaners dyes clothes but it was too pricey.

I think if you really wanted to, a skilled cobbler could still definitely fix those Acne booties for you. The sole could be partly replaced, not just glued. I think they still are such a great shoe it would be worth it. The blazer looks (in my opinion) a size or two small on you, even though you are slim, it looks not only tight on the shoulders but the sleeves are tight too.

Try a paste of baking soda, peroxide, and dish washing liquid with a degreaser (like Dawn), with a brush to scrub out stains in clothes. It may take several applications but works on most stains.

Nail polish remover gets rid of paint flecks if it's acrylic paint. Just rub it off like you would do your nails and them put in the wash. Most wall paints that don't smell strong are acrylic type paint. Non acrylic paints smell like turpentine.

Dear Signe, I am pretty new around your channel and besides living in the neighboring windy Netherlands which makes me even more addicted to your style and your take on fashion, I would like to know your threshold % for Wool % in a coat to be considered great? Sometimes I see even very high end brands with 70% wool 30% polyester. I am asking this because I spotted a beautiful camel on Mango and it is 75% wool plus 100% viscose lining.
@tinnerste2507
@tinnerste2507 2 жыл бұрын
The polyester percentage between 10 and 25 is good. It's usually blended for strength so it can make a garment more durable but still warm. So it shouldn't get misshapen if it gets worn in the rain for example. Other pure wool arent much warmer than a coat with low a percentage . Sometimes though, it's used to make a wool jacket stable even if it's very thin fabric, so make sure it's a heavy enough weight to be warm for your winters. Even pure cashmere coats have iron on plastic interfacing now a days to keep their shape, so even if you get a pure coat your not really avoiding plastic unfortunately.
@rebeccaalves4796
@rebeccaalves4796 2 жыл бұрын
@@tinnerste2507 very enlightening! I am becoming a bit psycho about composition of garments, however in case of a coat ( especially because it is not in contact with your skin directly) it can be essential to the durability and structure of the piece! The same applies to Trench Coat, I see to much polyester in Trenchs which makes an impossible mission to find one that I approve. However, the idea is to wear under the spring rainy days too!
@tinnerste2507
@tinnerste2507 2 жыл бұрын
@@rebeccaalves4796 I learned to sew so that I could have clothing with good quality natural materials. Along the way I realised that polyester and nylon are not always fillers used to make clothes cheaper. Before plastic people used horse hair fabric and stitch it to wool to keep it from sagging when it got wet. I don't know much about trench coats but I'd guess they were made water resistant with oil, and that's not so clean, as the oil might get onto your shirt if you get too warm. I know that's how old rain jackets were made. Try a thin leather coat. Leather lasts generations and is perfect for cool windy light rain.
