I was in the kitchen doing dishes...I heard you singing on The Voice. I was pulled towards the television by a force I couldn’t stop. Right there I fell in love with your voice. It reminded me of my husband’s beautiful voice before he stopped singing forever after the death of our firstborn. Work hard and win this please... You have so much to offer.

Though another The Voice season has come and gone, and the world is on fire and at a loss as to how to pull together in such profoundly challenging times, I have to say I agree: Mendeleyev’s voice is so unique, soulful, and medicine for this aching world, and the coaches that let you go missed a huge opportunity to give us more of such a fine musician and singer on their show.

Sir mendelev, greetings:) Im 16, from southeast asia, I live somewhere in really small village without internet unless I go to the town for a wifi. I need to go to town everyday for endless work, like a slave, feels like my life in a loop:(. That "She once was true love of mine" really tears me up sir, I just lost my grandma last week. And it's really hurt...freakin hurt myself, I hope she was in here with me, besides me, Oh god please, even just a second, Please grant it:( Anyway, Thank you very much sir, Listening to ur voice make me feel like I owe you something I couldn't explain. Take care of your family man:) love & peace.

I agree. There haven't been that many good voices, but this was one of them. John Legend might beat Blake Shelton this season. This guy could go deep in the competition, can sing all the genres, of which this song is a great example. Actually prefer this to the original. I could never understand the lyrics when Dylan sang. The only parts of the song I understood were the parts Johnny Cash sang.

Hi Mendeleyev, jeez, am I the only person who qwit watching The Voice for the 1st time since it's inception?? So, I didn't catch u @all that way. U got put on my u tube by the force known as ?google. ( that still creeps me out ). I am watching that show only 4 perfoances this yr, and skip thru all of the nonsense. I am an older lady who loves music since the age of 6. I bought this Dylan alb, still have it, as soon as it came out. I was 11 OMG, haven't heard that since I last played it for myself. Ur voice is astonishing, unique, one of a kind. I sat on the couch this difficult morning, after 3 hrs of business since really early w/ 1st coffee. After I watched a doc of mountain music, u showed up . Love that song. I'm amazed @ ur pitch, volume, expression is all intact in such a low register. Sst here w/my hand on my mouth, then the tears rolled. Very, very effective. I hope u don't fall in2 Hollyweird, since u won, and congrats. I haven't followed anyone who won, since Sawyer, and I still follow him. He gave up on 'them' a long time ago. I think u might do fine being u, but it ain't the days of Dylan, Baez, and Beatles. Don't get me wrong, I love new stuff in all genres, but can the likes of awesome artists like u make it in the digital, techy age? The best 2 u, and thx 4 this trip, just friggin gorgeous. Made my crappy day alot better. Godspeed, and I gotta keep looking 4 u. Keep this up, u precious soul!

Ive not seen this guy on "The Voice" First tome Ive seen this version. Im in England. Read on you might find this of interest. I know this song initially from Rod Stewarts cover version and I cant listen to it without it breaking my heart. You see I met a Lady in 2002 from Upstate NY (Im a native Londoner) just after my wife died of cancer (this is NOT a sob story). I moved to the US in 2002 with (my 11year old son) to be with this Lady. We married in Jan, 2005. Yeah it took that long for visas etc (rightfully so). Soon after she became pregnant with her 5th child and my 2nd. Hands up I was not thrilled at the prospect but as the pregnancy progressed my mindset changed to one of acceptance of the inevitable and on to one of anticipation. Although my initial reluctance was never forgottem and always reminded by my wife. On July 1st 2005 we had a beautiful baby girl but she was born sick and had to be taken to Burlington Vermont for more specialised care. My wife couldnt come as she had just delivered so I went with our newborn daughter to Vermont. For the 36 hours my newborn daughter and I were "alone" in Vermont I bonded with her. Id sit in the neo natal dept with her in just a diaper on my bare chest. 15 years later I can still feel her laying, sleeping on my heart. Eventually my wife was allowed out of our local hospital and to Vermont. As soon as she arrived I was reminded again of my initial acceptance of the news of this child and thing didnt improve. Over the next 3 years my daughter became a genuine daddys girl much to my wifes annoyance. She was the apple of my eye as at the time my own son, now a teenager was going throught that idiot stage and testing his boundarys. My daughter was my only joy. Pure and innocent but also a little mischevious .... but in an wonderfully endearing almost beguiling way. Id say "Dont touch that" and she would put her finger 1/16th of an inch from that object and say "Im not touching it dada" (I loved being called "Dada"). But she couldnt help herself .... she would suddenly touch it and imediatwly stary running away shouting "Sorry Dada Sorry Dada" ... funniest thing you ever saw .... but if you promise your kid a trip to tje park for being good or a spank on the ass for being bad you gotta deliver and she'd calked my bluff. So Id chase her and catch her and tell her off and give her a little spank on the ass. I could recall my dad saying "this'll hurt me more than you when I'd get it and thinking "No it wont" ... I knew exactly what he meant at that time but 30 seconds later we'd be snuggled up under a blanket on the couch watching old (British) Rupert the Bear episodes together all forgotten. This pissed my wife off even more than she already was and suddenly my daughter became a pawn in the marriage. The child was weaponised. If I didnt toe the line .... I got less daddy/daughter time. My gteatest pleasure was going off in the car to a bigger town (Plattsburgh NY) with my baby girl whikst my wife was doing her daycare but she started finding excuses in my behaviour to stop me taking our daughter. Anything from me not paying my wife enough attention to me being an asshoke in general. In short order I pretty much lostvall rights to taking my daughter anywhere. Another great song that is dear to me is "Here comes the sun" by the Beatles but written by the most talented one George Harrison (lost a lot of sympathy with that comment I bet lol). I used to play that on the car CD player when taking my daughter out for the day. Looking in the rear view mirror and gettobg her to song along. Off together for a days adventure whike her mom had day care and her brother was at school. Sheer fucking bliss But it had to end. Life woth her mother became so intolerable that I had to move my son and I away. I told my wife Id find a place within a few hours drive (still in the "North Country") and woukd sre my girl once midweek and either every weekend or every other weekend. Youre probably wondering how I could do that .... easy. My wife was a controlling alcoholic and if I sidnt get out the stress wouldve made my son (from a previous marriage) an orphan. She was seriously killing me. Threats of police intervention (cos I stopped her trying to drink), running up $40k worth of debt etc and so much other stuff thatd itd be low rent of me tp post about my daughters mother. But trust me..... she was/is absolutely unique. To cut a long story short. She called US immigration and made up a whoke plethora of bullshit accusations when my son and I left the house and were just about to buy another in Mineville NY. I got a call from their office in St.Albans Vermont with a nice lady telling me that although she coukd tell instantly the story was from a wonan scorned that my green xard was still "conditional" for another month (for some bureaucratic reason ot had taken 3 years insteaf of two) that my son and I would be deported and banned from re entry for ten years if we dodnt leave now. An appeal could only guatentee no ban if fought from abroad etc. So we were utterly shafted. My son and I came back to the UK in March 2008. I went back to the US my son to see my daughter/his little sister in for 5 days in July (3 months later and her 3rd birthday) but had to extend the stay for two weeks be because my wife refused to let us see her at first and only relented after a week. I flew out again on Dec 26th again to see her only this tinr, even after ten days she still steadfastly refused to let me see my daughter. She has since that time has caller I.D installed and NOT ONCE picked up a single call I've made to speak to my girl since then. That was 12 years ago. Since them, I buy yearly diaries every christmas and write letters to her every couple of days. So that one day .... one fuckibg glorious day ... she will see that her "Dada" never forgot her, always wanted her and she will have to come to her own conclusions why she grew up without him and her big hearted older brother. In the mean time, when im either drunk amd maidling or sober and brave I van stand to listen to this song .... and this os a truly fantastic version that echos the heartfelt desperation for someone to be watching over their own North Country Girl. In the mean time, Im still here, still fifhting daily and still waitibg for a private message from a little stranger that I already love more than any song could tell. Clearly your version of this song rang a chord with me. Thank you .... its not easy to be this emotive on this subject for me, I try to bury it because it hurts as much today as it did 12 years ago .. and will always do so untill either I die (and im not sure the pain even stops then) or I can hold her again. The songs speaks of True love .... our only "true loves" are oir children. Thanks for ready in drunken rambling. Im not usually drunk but when I am .... this is the No.1 topic for my heart. Be nice to each other and dont use your kids as weapons.
