029 - Mendelian Genetics
Paul Andersen explains simple Mendelian genetics. He begins with a brief introduction of Gregor Mendel and his laws of segregation and independent assortment. He then presents a number of simple genetics problems along with their answers. He also explains how advances in genetic knowledge may lead to ethical and privacy concerns.

Why does everyone always stick to one channel and say their videos are great, but I'm just here switching from Khan Academy to CrashCourse to Bozeman Science. And when that doesn't work out, I go to some 15 minute video of a poor teacher who needs a better micrphone or something when explaining the topic

Mr. Anderson was very correct when he said it would be really interesting for these two men to meet. He didn't mention this in the video, but Gregor Mendel was a Catholic friar of the Augustinian order, a man who embraced both religion and science at the same time - for him they were perfectly consistent. Meanwhile, Darwin publicly and fervently rejected religion in favor of science. They were each committed to science but had profoundly different ideas about its impact on society and social life. A conversation between them would have been enlightening for many.
