I can’t believe that no one has remarked on the 8 meter comment. Classic. 😂 nice review. Thanks.

I recently (two weeks ago) took delivery of my MENG kit...it did not come in the snazzy box but rather a large, well padded brown cardboard box. I immediately did an inventory of the parts trees.

The MkI was my favorite car since about 1965 and remains to this day. I immediately purchased the Matchbox Ford GT as it became available and is still in my collection after almost 60 years. The Ford GT (or GT40) must have been a difficult car to capture, for almost all die cast and plastic model cars were hardly accurate.

Another thing I'd like to mention which on some sites have mentioned as being negative with this MAG version are the glass (not so clear, or wavey), the seams along the top front and rear wings (fenders) or the harder compound rubber tyres.

Indycals carries a lot of gt40 decals and/or masking 1/12 for both Trumpeter (+ knock-off Magnifier) and Meng, Renaissance make a spare wheel (£9.15) available at Grand prix models, TDR innovations sell a great engine detail/correction kit 1/12 (resin 3d printed/ SLA) for $28 and an engine block for $46 at Shapeways, search gt 40 (with a space)...

Man thats a nice kit, love the decals and the rims it looks like a fun assembly, the trumpeter one. The ming kit looks simpler, and fun, but it will deffo need a paint job.

Thanks for the review. I build lots of Tamiya 1/12 F1 cars and gave been looking for something different. My hobby shop has both of these Gt40 kits. The Ming is just too much here in US. $300! I think I will go with the Trumpeter version. Happy new year!

Cool kits. Gt-40 was a Shelby winner for racing against Enzo back in the day. Shelby was a good ol boy that made some really cool rides back in the day. In the 80s he had a Shelby dodge 4 cylinder that was really cool. Kit car? Those are cool. My buddy had a full sized kit car of the 427 Cobra that he took me in a ride with, It was fun! Id love to see the build Nigel!

I kinda did an LOL of you reviewing this one tbh Nige. Keeping the bags on and not fitting the body together is out of sorts for you. I almost thought we were getting a museum review (Don't touch the body its a relic) baha. Much love my man and Happy New Year.

The GT40 is possibly the nicest car the British ever designed and built, along with the Jag E type.. Originally built and designed by Lola, called the Lola MK6.. When Ford and Shelby failed to build a car to beat Ferrari, they offered to buy the MK6 from Lola, and they eventually renamed it the GT40.. All the GT40s continued to be built in England at Slough and Huntingdon until the end of the MKIII, when Ford took over all production in the USA..
