For a metal finish it is entirely seamless... Even the wing leading edges are seamless. That is revolution for metal finish WWII subjects, and this is the exact right subject that should have it... It does fit seamlessly by the way, and also has a better gear sit than the benchmark Eduard. I will pit those two head to head, and expect the Meng to win in every category except surface and cockpit detail. Filled wings BTW often cracked the seams open or were stripped, so the idea the wings should look perfectly smooth is a bit overstated.

Windscreen is more accurate on Eduard: Deeper larger side windows... Meng sliding hood is more accurate(!), with thicker base and more omega bulge, but seam to remove... Kits are comparable, so mix and match from 2 Meng hoods per kit (big curve plus Dallas), but with only one Eduard windscreen per kit: aaarrgh...

Got one sat in the pile, got some Tuskegee decals just need to wangle some cave time and I will be good to go this weekend

It's actually a great Mustang kit - for the first time in 1/48 they have gotten the wheelbay configuration right! (the rear wall of the wheel bay is the wing spar - take a look at all other 1/48 p51 kits (including Tamiya!!), they have a wheelbay that follows the outline of the doors!

I agree, being a bit of a US Fighter nerd, I ordered one of these, got a spare set of Tuskegee 1/48 Decals in the decal folder. I feel a mimic Phil moment coming on and do a 2 day build (Weekend family stuff also ) Bit of a polish and dip for the canopy and could be good to go.

The only thing I can think of to add would be that's there's rivets on the wings. As most Mustang lovers know the d's had filled and lacquered wings.

I wouldn't touch a kit that has a center seam on the canopy. no need in 2016!

Colin Johnston good thing it's 2017. But truthfully, if you won't touch a kit because of a small center seam that will will take 10 minutes to reverse, is laughable. We're modelers. We can overcome something silly like that.

Not as laughable as your English. Might be an idea to proof read your post before making a fool of yourself no? The kit came out in 2016 did it not? You can laugh away but it's my money and I'll spend it on whatever I like. But thanks for your input..

Colin Johnston Colin Johnston : If I'm honest, I've done a lot of things in life to make a fool of myself, but luckily not proof-reading my KZfaq comments have not made the top 1,2,3, or 400. It would have made more sense to have made "2016" past tense. But either way. Being as your first conversation with me started out as shallow insults, I see you are thin skinned and can't handle any opinions other than your own; which is fine. Insult away.

Hahahaha. I'm thinned skinned? It was you that started with the insults, calling my opinion laughable and a very condescending response. You also corrected me on the year. Now you can't take it that I pointed out your spelling mistakes. I won't be spending my money on this kit, instead I'll buy the airfix one when released. Laughable or not my modeling skills mean I couldn't get it clear and I prefer to support airfix when I can. Is that OK with you?

Colin Johnston Colin Johnston I didn't insult you, I said not buying a kit for one reason is funny. There was nothing condescending about it, how you perceived it is another thing. And I'm not sure why you keep bringing your money up, I have no influence or care how you spend it. Don't forget to consider Eduards offering as well. Airfix, Meng, and Eduard are all brining a lot to the table. As long as Airfix relaxes on the soft plastic and huge spru gates, it should be wonderful.
