This the long way from Menomonee Falls WI to Muskegon MI.Starting northbound on US-41.Going by Fond Du Lac,Oshkosh,Green Bay and Marinette.Crossing into Upper Michigan going through Escanaba and a few other small towns.Then turning on east US-2 through Manistique and the rain to St Ignace MI.Then driving across the Mackinac Bridgeon south I-75 into Lower Michigan.Then Southbound on US-31 Through Charlevoix,Traverse City,Manistee,Ludington then finally Muskegon MI,where I take the Lake Express Ferry to Milwaukee WI.

@@trackkstoofficial I vaguely remember in the 2000s when I-41 (then U.S. 41) wasn't even interstate standards between Milwaukee and Fond du Lac. It was a nightmare for cross traffic because there were so many cars on U.S. 41. Sometimes you'd have to wait up to 5 whole minutes just to get an opening to cross both lanes of traffic. They did the right thing adding exits and making it interstate standards. Even now, in 2021, there are so many cars between Milwaukee and Fond du Lac, they almost need to expand it to 6 lanes soon.

I am planning a similar road trip this summer. I also want to check out the Garden an Leelenau peninuslas, see what it looks like across the lake from where my grandparents used to have their cottage on the beach in Door County.

It's certainly a beautiful drive, especially seeing the "big Mac" bridge from almost 100 miles back, but you went 400 miles out of your way!! You could either go down around through Chicago, or take either the Milwaukee-Muskegon Ferry, or the far more historic one from Manitowoc to Ludington Any reason you took the long way around ??

It was a scenic ride though Upper Michigan and the Mackinac bridge.I wanted to get a video of that.

Barbiepoledancer You do realize, I hope, that"Upper Michigan" and the Upper Peninsula are not the same thing .... Fortunately for you, this trip took you through both!!! Upper Michigan is the northern half of the lower peninsula, from the Bridge to Ludington & Bay City.......Lower Michigan would be everything south of US 10, including Muskegon, Ann Arbor, and Detroit Have you ever considered a trip through the Great Northwoods (the Rhinelander-Eagle River-Minocqua area...), as many people from Chicago, Minneapolis, & Milwaukee vacation here, so we must have something special to offer.

+Draven Guinn Did you reallize that "upper Michigan" and the Upper Peninsula are two different parts of Michigan ? Upper Michigan (as opposed to lower Michigan) is actually the northern half of the mitten, everything north of US 10, from Ludington to Bay City.. Yooperland is obviously north of the Mackinaw Bridge... They are two different parts of the state ...
