Recent data demonstrate a high prevalence of mental health conditions among adolescents and adults with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD). Mental health conditions including depression and anxiety, explains Dr. Khanna, can interfere with the type of self-care that is critical for managing ACHD. Adult congenital heart physicians should consider the patient’s entire medical profile in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients who were born with a congenital heart defect.

Yes it's a very relevant topic where more research should be done.i had a CHD and a surgery was done in my 3rd month and physically im good but mentally I am at lot of problems.each day I face lot of mental pressure to cope up with normal people and each day of growing as a adult is getting worse and worse due to my slow learning and low cognitive development.the children with cognitive heart disease have associated mental issues.it may be because of a linked gene that associated with CHD causing gene.the error in this gene may cause both CHD And mental illness in patients proper research should be done and treatment should be available worldwide. do something that help poor people like me and the upcoming generation
