Really love the M6. Actually saw one in a BMW dealer back in September 2012 and I couldn't get over how nice it looked. However I would still choose the E63 because it looks amazing and has a brilliant exhaust note as well.

Dude, the 6.2 engine is pure muscle. Turbo chargers come with parasitic drawbacks. Theres no replacement for displacement. Mercedes have been in the muscle car game a long time, ive drove fast cars, even turbo'd hot hatches and the mercedes 63 is an animal.

True that, due to the i-drive button and therefore the bare cabin bmw lost some customers to audi and such a few years ago, but the new interiors set them apart. Had a look at the newest merc's too but the cabin is just so ermmm normal compared to the big bmw's.

(actualy more) and weights less ^^ so tell your friend mercedes to stop doing lazy engines^^ everyone knows bmw engines are more sporty, however in real worl the merc maybe wins because this is sopossed to be a saloon car not a sports car ^^ so +1 to merc -1 by being slow = tie ... as ussually bmw and merc end up tied on performance i only like more bmw design... that bmw wins to every car in the world^^

WS Elton hahaha your so funny I tell you something the time that BMW was making good engines is gone all M cars now with the v8 engines (new cars) have a very old e34 4.4L engine BMW just take this engine and put some turbos this 4.4L has more than 20 years xD. mercedes don't go far away but the engine they put is a 5.5L from the gl class x164. sorry for my bad English

Another great video from Chris. I am considering buying an E63 AMG S model and fortnight ago, my dealer kindly loaned me one for a few days. I can vouch for every comment Chris makes - it is crazy fast and I liked it, but if I'm honest, it left me a bit underwhelmed. Its has lots and lots of power, but opportunities to use that on UK roads is rare…this is one long-legged customer and sooner rather than later, you WILL run out of road, as I did. Then there's the sound - Merc makes a lot of this 'Sound With Power' marketing, but the car IS quiet. Sounds great on tick over, but its very quiet as you rev it harder, which is a byproduct of the turbos. What I'm comparing it to is my 2012 C63 AMG owned from new and a turbo engine is never going to be as vocal as a non turbo, so in that respect, the E is nowhere near the same league as the C with its snarly normally aspirated V8. So thats a dilemma - do I go for the 585bhp with its quiet express-train performance but with little opportunity to use it on UK roads, or do I stick with my C63, which at 487bhp, is a bit behind the E, but has more than enough power to enjoy, but also has that frankly incredible drag-racer sound track…….maybe not such a dilemma!

Those steering wheel shots while drifting, authentic feelings and in the end the choice for excitement over numbers... next level auto-journalism. I have no idea why other car tests still show 2 minutes of numbers, a slalom, timed lap, bootspace, space to sit in the back and all that s**t when the stuff Chris and Neil do is all we really want and wait for in every single car vid we are hunting for.

In all the tests I've watched on here where the M5 and M6 have been pitted against a Jag XF-RS, Merc E63 AMG, Panamera S etc in a grad race, the BMW's have won every time. I think it's astonishing.

We did have them before, yes, but now we have a monumental lineup of cars that can munch the 458, in power terms. Also, mind you, that the power outputs are also much more impressive than they were. The E63 AMG, M6, RS7, S8, M5, XF-RS, CLS63 AMG, and the new, upcoming Cadillac CTS-V, all have more than 570 BHP. That, to me, is incredible.

ahhh, no wonder the RS7 was noticeably absent! This was really a drift contest on the track and there's no way the Audi would be any fun for Chris to do skiddies and talk for 3 minutes about its throttle response and steering feedback. Interwebs, be damned!

Paul Optional Siegfried can't deny that. although Chris has debunked the myth that a Quattro with torque vectoring sport diff can't oversteer. Do a search for his DR video oversteering an S4 Avant with a sport diff. Still not nearly as "bonkers" as a RWD drifting for sure.

Samet Tikiz it is the s model he said it in the video and if you understood cars you'd know it was the s model once you saw it......and those 0-100 stats you put is complete bullshit M6 GC does it 3.5 ive tested many times Myself!!

It's not exist in England the S 4 Matic. Oly 2x4 But the M5-M6 made 0-250kmh better then E63Amg S 4matic.

Sadik Shabani is clear because the E63 S 4Matic has all-wheel drive, but 0-100 much faster then M5 and M6 and a better cornering.

Because is 4x4 it has a better 0-100 and cornering, but the 2x4 E63 amg is slower then Bmw M5-M6! In this category Bmw m5 is the best.

Sadik Shabani No they have the same speed and both cars have their pros and cons no car is the best in this category and the normal E63 Amg with less horsepower accelerates as fast as the M5 with competition package both of them have 0-100: 4.2 sec, check it ;)

You have to realise that Mercedes AMG hand build their engines and own gearboxes. They could easily just buy them from ZF, I prefer it for that reason and that superb exhaust note.

Chris, BMW is known for heavily underrating their powertrains. People who put the M5/M6 engines on a dyno got very close to 600+hp/PS, and not the "official" 560PS.

Probably so that when they release the next generation M5 in a few years they can say that it has 600hp with a "new" tweaked engine. The fact that the competition pack enables 575hp, it wouldn't surprise me if it has 600+hp anyway, but has been toned down a bit. I guess they need to leave a bit of leeway for the next generation, because I don't know how they could make this engine any more perfect!

The E63 S puts down 676hp. It's grossly underrated from the factory.

It has 560 hp in the worst conditions(heat/humidity/poor fuel). In optimal conditions probably close to 600.

trevor philips well actually the e63 4matic amg s they sell everywhere else exept uk is much faster than any bmw, plus it looks way fancier and the interior is much better. thats why.
