There are not many bigger or better expedition vehicles to tour the most remote locations on the planet than this Unidan Engineering built body and Mercedes Benz Zetros truck platform. Made in Australia but meant for the world.

One BIG problem. MB Trucks are not releasing the new model in Australia. I can't figure out MB decision because with a little marketing the Zetros would be a huge seller in Australia. My only guess is that it possibly comes down to production capacity(or lack thereof). They have their hands full I believe just meeting demand in SA and ME so Australia, requiring a RHD version takes a back seat.

Hello guys. Nice work. It could be useful to indicate the operational range of this truck in degrees Celsius because I think that as expedition vehicle as it is , in Siberia at -60 c something can go wrong. One more question , price? Succes and good sales. Best wishes from Hungary.

If you want to travel siberia in winter, its probably best to use a russian truck like ural, even cold war german military trucks have trouble in the siberian winter, and they were buit to go there, with lessons learnt in the 40s. (and maybe a woodstove) spare parts and repairs are also no problem with a russian truck. If you want to travel everywhere tho, russian probably isn't the best because of the fuel consumption and others
@freedomday702 жыл бұрын
@@the_retag thanks for your response. I targeted a Ural 4320 because of the aspects that you mentioned and also because of the low maintenance cost and simplicity. In case of consumption a MAN 6X6 , another excelent truck for expedition has a 40 l/100 km consumption, and the Ural 30. Off road the MAN has around 60l which is huge. I dont want modern trucks because they are to complicated as construction and for a expedition vehicle good for -50 to +50 its not recommended( excepting that you are not billionaire). On those landscapes its quit difficult to found a guy with a laptop to fix your issues. Anyway high number of components meaning high chance to malfunctions.
@the_retag2 жыл бұрын
@@freedomday70 im a great fan of man kat, and wish i can afford it one day. About its consumption ive heard that on highway it can get to 35l/100km , but up to 100/100 im heavy offroad (which is supposedly normal for any off road truck, after all, power comes from the fuel) it is proven in the siberia winter with light mods (the expedition(s?) can be found in the kat forum and on yt, but that is realy running it at its limit, one of the trucks in the expedition broke down and couldn't be fixed without a full truck workshop, and another's tow hith broke off towing it in the extreme cold (got brittle). So it should not be used in the remote siberian north in winter when your not in a group.
@the_retag2 жыл бұрын
@@freedomday70 also have you considered tatra? (813 i think) anothe very capable offroad truck, and as its still from soviet times afaik it should get some of the benefits of the ural (but probably not as much)

That has got to be one of the worst designed central tire inflation systems, that still functions, that i have ever seen. Those hoses must get ripped off all the time, that or they force you to restrict the places you can go to wide open spaces or groomed trails.
@GaryTischer4 жыл бұрын
Good point. The Zetros comes with an internal tire inflation as a factory option however this is not an after market option, which is why the one you see was used. I asked Dan about it as I had concerns as well. He told me they have had another customer with the one fitted to this vehicle which has been ripped off once in about 190,000km. The plus side of this system is that it is very easy to repair.
@mattrobson36034 жыл бұрын
That was my thought as well. I have no experience with CTIS, but I'd figure that something without stuff sticking out of the side would be a lot harder to damage, but with being more difficult to repair as a tradeoff.

The worst
@jamespugh37292 жыл бұрын
That's the very first thought on seeing the vehicle. Its an easy failure point! And of course the terrain that is most likely to damage it is also the terrain most likely to leave you stranded.......
