Mercedes S-Class (W220): Side Mirror Rubber Gasket/Door Panel 2003-2006

I replace the worn rubber gasket on the side mirror and door panel of a 2003 Mercedes S-Class. (Click "show more" for tools used)

I tied a piece of string to both mirror cables, then pulled the cables through with enough length of string so that I could feed the mirror cables back through after replacing the gaskets. Saves a lot of time so you don't have to remove the door cards.

I'm sorry, i didn't get you. Is it possible to change the gaskets without removing door panel? I'm asking you cause i need to change them and i've already ordered them. Thank you

@@fvip666 You don't have to remove the door card to replace but it's a bit tricky with the door card still on the car. Disconnect the two cables for the wing mirror from the DCM. Tie a long piece of string (maybe a couple of shoe laces tied together) to the cable ends. Remove the wing mirror from the car. Pull the cables through the wing mirror opening and you should have enough string to hang on the inside and outside of the door. Untie the string on the outside so you can fit the new gasket. Then after replacing the gasket, tie your sting back on the cables on the outside and pull the string from the inside to feed the cables back to the DCM (be carefull not use too much force while pulling and use your other hand to manouvere the cables back to the DCM as it's a tight space with the door card installed)

Thank you very much! Saved me a lot of time. Approximately 30cm in length is enough. You have to slightly push the door card forwards when you pull out the wires at the end.

My 2001 S500 wood parts don't pop out like that, its bolted with 8mm nuts on the back. Good to see a woman work on a car. Respect

I followed your instruction to replace whole right side mirror assembly, and got stuck on the connectors. How to disconnect the connectors? Tried to pull I out, didn't work. Any latch to release? Thanks.

Why can't you just slice the rubber gasket and not have to remove the panel. seems like the rubber gasket will seal back up when you tighten the mirror back on.

Sorry to say so but 90% of that wasn't necessary! I changed mine recently, you pop the clip, slide the mirror off, put the new gasket on and you're done! 5 minutes each side.

how did you manage that? It seems the wires for the electric adjustment would get in the way? From what I can see. the whole reason for removing the interior paneling is to get those two wires out.

The gaskets I received direct from MB had a little note inside telling me to do what I already thought was obvious!. Quite simply, cut the gasket on the underside, put it in place and slide the mirror cover back on! You'd never even know it had been cut and it looks and functions perfectly!

YOU SHOULDNT HAVE CUT OUT THE PARTS WHERE YOUR BOYFRIEND DID THE HARD WORK FOR YOU, I just did this and IT SUCKED FUCKING ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! ITS A LOT MORE DIFFICULT THAN THIS VIDEO SHOWS
