The ML has a reduction gear unit, so it spinns the tires easily and has much more torque at the wheels.

It's not fair for Mercedes because the point at which the rope is tied is lower than on the BMW, so BMW pulls the rear end of the Mercedes up a bit, that makes him lose traction in the rear more easily.

I own a ml w163 and all I can say is drivetrain wise and just brute strength wise, this thing is a fucking monster. The x5 is a mere toy compared this model ml. My neighbor actually had a head on collison with a ml320 with his x5. His car was totaled and 2 passengers injured. The ml was also totaled but all passengers were fine, also the motor still cranked up, car engaged in gear and was able to drive itself onto a tow truck. Now that's build quality!

@@fadelibrahim7663 yes, and in that case the ml being pulled up makes it loose some of its traction and the X5 being pulled down makes it gain some traction, so the initial advantage just by that would be with the X5.

Mercedes is a good car manufacturer, but not the first. The first to build a car was Carl Benz in 1885. He founded the Brand Benz&Cie. Later in 1926 he fused his car brand with Daimler Motoren AG to Daimler-Benz AG. Thus pracrictly founding Mercedes Benz around 1926.

@@smekkfeit it's really not. BMW builds, ironically, very bad engines wich can fail around 200000km easily. In Africa they drive Mercedes cars from the 70s as taxis with more than a million kilometers. I've never seen a BMW drive there. Only Mercedes and Toyota.

In case some of you didn't notice, the Mercedes won but it was at the very end of the video. I don't know about the 4X4 systems on these vehicles but hopefully these guys used low range in their transfer cases (if equipped). Using 4X4 low at least doubles your power to the drive wheels so it takes a big strain off the engine and transmission because of the low gearing. So remember, if you're going to have a tug of war contest, use 4X4 low if it's available on your vehicle. If you decide to make a video, step back far enough so we can see each vehicle completely. That way we can see both the front and rear tires spin. Thanks

@@maxboyaThe low range in my 2005 ML 350 SE seems rather useless for it’s gen (W163). It’s a single button that just toggles on, and that’s practically it. It doesn’t really do much if you accidentally press/engage it while driving normally on the road.

i have a Bmw-E53 and a small Toyota. I love the x5 but i have to say the Toyota is faaaarrr more reliable. its so clear that the BMW is designed with planned obsolescence in mind. (Its made to die after a period of use). For example there are these plastic tabs in sunroof that brake and the tabs would cost about 1 euro to make or 2 euro to be made form aluminum and never have this problem. but BMW wont supply them and their solution is to replace the entire sunroof for 3500 Euro. and gearboxes that die after about 10 years on average and you will have to give the car to a salvage yard. nona that shit on a toyota when im passing a taxiRank ( taxi line location) pretty much all taxis are Toyota.

forthereg not 100% true. I have a 2001 bmw 325i and its one of if not the best engine made by bmw. I can put over 500k on it and it will run smooth. Even a 2015 bmw engine wouldnt last that long. Mine have 158k on it and it still has all the groves from the factory like it hasnt been touched.

It's not a fair comparison. The BMW has 100 NM more torque than the Mercedes which means better towing capacity, unless it's an ML400 CDI...is it?! Anyway, it's still a funny test :)

NOT TRUE. the DSC is left ON the X5, therefore it is not slipping like the inferior Mercedes. If u turn DSC off the computer will not actively brake the wheels.
