The way I interpret it this song is as the struggle living with bipolar disorder. The brilliant part about it is he's taking you through the full bipolar cycle using his own personal internal monologue. Ironically, the beginning of the song is actually the end of the bipolar cycle (the crash into depression) and the end of the song describes how the bipolar cycle begins (the rise into mania). The tragedy in the song lies in how well he expresses how much pain he is in and how much suffering he's caused other people and then by the end of the song you're like, oh no, it's happening again because you see how he justifies denials to end up back in that place he was on the first part of the song, effectively resetting the vicious cycle all over again.

After 16 years of drinking and ending up alcohol dependant I found this towards the end when I started ending up in hospital, I never really got the meaning behind this song until I started listening to it in treatment, it hits so hard, thankfully I'm 8 and a half months dry and am never looking back, this song is such a good reminder of what I used to be and why, alcohol is so easy to just push down feelings and emotions and for me especially with my anxiety aswell, after a drink I couldn't care less what people thought and I thought that was the fix which it really wasn't... It only destroyed relationships and myself faster, big up to anyone who is suffering from anxiety and pushing through every day, you're not alone❤‍🔥
