The Mermaid with the Magic Tail - My first swim in my Miishy Fins silicone mermaid tail. This mermaid tail is black. But is it really JUST another black mermaid tail? No. This mermaid tail is the ULTIMATE Gothic mermaid tail. The gold and red stripes on the tail colorshift to black in the right lighting, giving this tail an otherworldly shimmer that'll catch you off guard. The mermaid character that this mermaid tail goes with is Mermaid Shadow. Yes. I know that's a dog name. But I don't care. I like it. I think it suits her well. :)
Shadow is a pirate mermaid who is meant to dwell in rivers. She is a very, veeeery old creature (with absolutely no sense of time) who travels all over the world collecting bells, silk and various treasures to bring back to her favorite group of pirates. I'll explain more about this someday. But there's a vague summary. :3
As one of you did guess, the inspiration for her is none other than my favorite pirate- the clever and fearsome Gan Ning of Han Dynasty China. I'll explain the details and how this came to be in another video. But for now, please know that I am so, so sooooo super duper excited to have a character that gives a nod to one of my favorite historical figures. I'm always sad when I read about "pirates around the world" and don't see his name mentioned. So like, allow me to just like... start an unofficial swimming fan club with my decked out body. XD

I will go into a more detail explanation of the significance of each piece of her costume (a lot of thought went into this) and will share more about her "story" in a different video and/or community post. And. AND. Someday I hope to travel with this character (but perhaps with a different tail, because 45lbs is a little much to haul around as carry on aaaahhhh), so maybe that will happen? I've been wanting to go to China, Singapore (again) and Norway for a few years now, but my health and inability to see well have made that difficult. Things are getting better slowly, so that dream may someday come true. Obviously I'll keep you updated on that! X3
