Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody!

Blank spaces bring peace. Peacefulness is a good thing in a bedroom. A mirror over the chest is a logical placement.

Judging a painted room without furniture and decor is like judging your eye makeup before eyeliner and mascara. The finishing touches are everything!

For the big empty walls you can always install one or two long floating shelves for plants or books or other bits and bobs. Combine that with some pictures underneath or nice old hooks for guests to hang dressing robes/coats/etc. We had a massive empty wall in our kitchen and made a shelf for plants with 3 large-ish frames underneath and it really brought the room together. Everything looks lovely and I'm sure however you decide to style the rooms they'll continue to look cosy and inviting.

Another suggestion that you already mentioned. - a bookshelf!! Maye a tall one to draw the eye up and make the room appear taller (the curtains will do that too!) Books and green go SO well together 🤩

I think that big wall is a good place for a gallery wall in the green room. The mirror could be the big piece in the gallery. Mirrors used to reflect light don't need to be practical for checking an outfit, it can just be it's own changing artwork depending on what view its reflecting.

I have really enjoyed your vlogmas. I agree with the ability to leave some walls blank, but also suggest framing special keepsakes throughout the house . Perhaps having your wedding invitation framed? Or create a shadow box of special memories or postcards from travel? You have a great eye!

Blank walls in bedrooms are fine I think. Keeps it more restful. In living areas I think you can have more things on the walls.

I love mirrors on walls opposite windows. Great way to reflect a little bit more light into a dark room and tricks the eye into thinking there is a second window for a split second.

I think the big mirror looks best over the chest of drawers, and the small mirror would look beautiful in a little 3 piece gallery wall sort of assembly (I love non-square items in gallery walls)

Maybe a wall to wall trim board with pegs in the pinkish room on the blank wall? Then you can hang a purse, decorative basket, dried flowers or anything really. You can change it up whenever you like.

A great Vlogmas series, well done! The guestroom is beautiful. The nice thing about that shade of green is it goes with almost any other color. Think of it as the leaves and your accent color is the flower. Even the blue and white duvet looks lovely with that green. I say keep the bench or get something similar for your guests to put their overnight bags on. It’s always nice to provide a place to sit and tie one’s shoes or put one’s bags without putting them on the floor. Happy Christmas!

Our Victorian is sloping to the south and the end of the room has a servery with a hugh mirror which makes the slope obvious, I made a garland of Magnolia leaves, lovely rust colour with glossy green! I always use my fudging skills when hiding flaws and or picture hanging. The oak barrel would be perfect for walking sticks and umbrellas in the hall.

I agree, a bedside chair would finish off the pink room perfectly. Blank walls are very calming, and stylish space. In the green room I’d get another mirror and hang both behind the lamps. That way the light would bounce off the lamps and it would lighten up that gorgeous green color. You’ll know the right thing when you see it. Merry Christmas! 🎄

This bedroom is absolutely GORGEOUS! The color is so perfect, not too dark and not too light, very cosy to fall asleep around. I think it’s perfect without a mirror too, but don’t be scared to use mirror on the wall like you’d use a framed pic, especially near the window or across from it! I had same mirror you showed horizontally on the wall and it was soooo beautiful to see the reflection from the window, it’s like a natural art that is changing through the day. Especially during the sunset or sunrise. If I had a space at current apartment to have that mirror I would 100%, it was magical. So 100% suggest trying it out, even if it doesn’t seem very practical!

I think when it comes to interiors you need to remember scale. Get 3 A1 pieces of paper and put them on wall. Maybe you need two or 3 larger pieces. Cut them or paste them together to see what size you actually need. Then write down the sizes and then go shopping. Or ask a local artist to paint a piece of work. You should love everything in your home. It’s a big wall but with art you shouldn’t rush it. Merry Christmas

We picked up a dining table and 2 dining chairs yesterday from a pub in Porthleven that was selling their entire contents. We paid £20 in total but could have had another 2 chairs included in that price. The chap was encouraging my hubby to take another 2 chairs just to get rid of them (buy one get one), but we don't have room for another 2. It'll take a bit of time to clean and restore them plus fabric to re-upholster the chair seats, but it saves hubby buying new wood and spending time building from scratch - so happy with our purchase 🙂 Wishing you both a wonderful Christmas & New Year xxx

Your bedroom is looking lovely. I can't speak for the UK, but in the US, it seems, new furniture is usually made of wood composites unless you spend a fortune on real wood furniture. I prefer real wood vintage or antique pieces as well. "They just don't make them like they use to" the old saying goes. I also like for the pieces to be different but complimentary to each other and not matchy, matchy. I also mix light and dark woods. It just gives a room character. Secondhand is the way to go! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The only thing I might offer is the two botanical prints be hung either a little closer together so they feel more visually paired OR consider adding perhaps 1 oval or 3 stacked little circular vintage antique elements on either side or between the botanicals... if you wanted to bend away from the traditional symmetry a little you could consider moving the right botanical more left and then placing a circular element or even a skinny dried flower wall vase on the wall just to offset a little. Hope your holiday was truly restful. Your content is so additive to this new mum's life in Toronto.

Hi Lovely house. Yes you can have wallpaper in a bathroom. I have toile de jouy sealed with a coat of polyvine. Only seal non washable paper though because washable is coated with a thin film of plastic. Ordinary paper sealed seals all the joints too.

I've so enjoyed your vlogmas! Here's a tip on how to get water marks off of wood furniture. Get a dry towel and an iron. Make sure the iron doesn't have any water in it, you want it dry. Place the towel over the water mark and place the iron on top of the towel and move in a circular motion for about 20-30 seconds at a time, check often and the water mark will start to disappear! Merry Christmas!

Shelves are nice to put on big empty walls with some tall plants on the floor in nice pots, or plant stands to add height. It breaks up the pictures in the room nicely too.

Pop a book under the lamp to bring it level if it starts to bug you but I love it all. We just bought our first home and it's very old and wonky too but I love the quirkiness. I love that you're embracing the traditional too. Enjoy

I would definitely not do wallpaper in the bathroom, too much moisture would only compromise it, I’m a hospitality interior designer, so I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂 Definitely love the idea of the tile half way up the wall with a chair rail and I would do a fun paint color above. I like the scale of the wooden mirror over the dresser. Blank walls are fine if the other walls are full. It’s looking lovely.

For the pink room, yes, add a corner armchair w a floor lamp to its right, and thats all that wall wld need :) ...Maybe also a plant on the bedside table, like a cebu blue pothos, or another silvery-blue/sage coloured plant. Have it climb a trellis or hang it from the ceiling. (Trellis i think wld fit more your style though🤷‍♀️)

What I often do on those large walls is use the corner (where the bedside table is as an example in your room ) as the anchor and incorporate it or at least reference it in a grouping of art. Like, hang something over the bedside table or beside it and then hang a grouping on the long wall opposite as though it was part of the wall with the bedside table. That way it kind of brings that wall into the conversation but still leaves some negative space which can be quite calming. Another idea is to incorporate moulding which would visually add a boundary around the art you potentially hang there or leave without art but adds some texture and interest. Another idea is to find a nice, generous sized piece of textile to hang. I have a very long wall opposite my bed and it sat empty for the longest time. It’s a long narrow room and the way the bed has to be positioned unfortunately means always a long wall with no way to place anything there to anchor it. I did actually end up putting in a gallery wall. The room is a dark midnight blue (doors and trim as well) and it really just elevated the whole space into a moody haven. Oh, and always hang the pictures so they are in harmony with the line of the wall rather than what is actually level. Sometimes even the way the light falls in a room can make a picture look like it’s not hung straight even if it is, so hang it to match the light otherwise it’s going to drive you bonkers that it looks off. I have never understood why people bring out their levels when they are hanging pictures. It has to LOOK straight not actually BE straight.

The mirror on the big wall looks amazing. Maybe get two more and arrange all 3 of them in a random way to fill the wall a bit more
