On The watch 6 years before the 2009 banking crisis and 4 years after. Not a great recommendation.

The PEOPLE of the UK voted to LEAVE the EU. It was a close vote but, for a democracy to function, those whose view was not successful, at the ballot box, should take their loss and allow the successful view to take presidence until sufficient time has elapsed to determine if the successful view was indeed leading to a better future for the PEOPLE. That has not happened as the unsuccessful still argue that their view is the one that should be followed. In the final analysis it comes down to the question, "Will the average person in the UK be better or worse off in the long term, for the UK leaving the EU". That question can only be answered by the passage of time after the UK leaves the EU. If the UK does not leave the UK then that question can never be answered. Globalists, Socialists and Communists will see the dismantling of the UK, a leader in the World for democracy, freedom and free speech as a necessity to achieving their cause and so they will oppose BREXIT. The younger element will oppose BREXIT as "it takes away my future to enter and work in Europe and puts me at a disadvantage in my life". The EU, for over 40 years has moved slowly in the direction of moving the centre of political life from Westminster to Brussels. This direction of movement is ultimately determined by the unelected commissioners of Europe, not the so called MEPs. It may have come to your notice that the unelected commissioners now refer to their position in the EU as the UPPER CHAMBER and the position occupied by the MEPs as the LOWER CHAMBER. This can be seen in a parallel to the HOUSE OF LORDS ( the Upper House) and the HOUSE of the COMMONS ( the lower and commoners house). In the UK there has been much controversy with respect to the Supreme Courts ruling and the actions of MPs being instructed by the PEOPLE to leave the EU but seeing the instuction as only "Advisory". The PEOPLE of the UK have, in the past, fought against the odds to enable the PEOPLE to hold the "Ultimate Power" in the UK. Being Sovereign is, by defintion, that which holds ultimate power. The Supreme court, all 11 of them, the MPs and MEPs and the Speaker may believe they have the Sovereign Power, that is until the PEOPLE rise up, on mass, against them. So, today, the people who are set against BREXIT must be happy to have their ULIMATE POWER handed over to the unelected and Upper Chamber of Brussels which effectively will lead to the UK armed forces, now under the control of the Queen, to be placed in the hands of the unelected and Upper Chamber of Brussels. The Brits will become a serfdom of the EU, but not today, just a week or so into the future, and any money spent to repair the Houses of Parliament may be able to be saved as It would be cheaper to bulldoze the Houses of Parliament into the River Thames

Brilliant , if only he was still Govenor of the Bank of England now, instead of Mark Carney , read his book its great, basically he (King)says everything in the world is out of kilter , the EU and the euro, fixed exchange rates, China needs to focus on its internal problems, its debt, the IMF and how it favours Europe at the expence of Asia , negative interest rates, etc, etc,

Looking back from now King was infinitely superior to and fairer than Carney, a Goldman-Sachs executive currently moonlighting in the office of BoE guv. Having been forced to help the formation/continuation of housing bubble in the UK, he at least had the decency to aptly mention "House price is a matter of opinion, whereas the debt is real".

Too many countries are beneficiaries in the EU about 18 in total . Poland has received around £100 billion and Greece around £270 billion and just recently a massive interest free loan . The UK just keeps losing out propping up these countries .

I can't believe impoverished McDonalds workers entered into this discussion on global finance. So our whole economy hinges on whether they work a 16 hour week or a 30 hour week and how much tax credits they get. Perhaps if we worked them like mules for a 70 hour week and paid them in burgers and chips things would improve. Also Merv is right - those economists always regretted not getting that A Level in Physics - and then later they wanted a set of maths equations of their own that they could blow up the world with.

One thing made clear by Mervyn King is that the arguments being put forward by both those who have political power and by the man in the street are not very helpful in actually bringing out the pros and cons of Brexit. Yet this decision would have a profound effect on Britain in general. Exaggerations abound and subtleties are being put on the back burner .

She speaks too fast, covers her mouth and turns away from the camera. A pity because it's a good interview and I would have liked to hear her questions.

Very poor sound quality. Could you not afford proper microphones? Sounds like a voice activated mike, as there's clicks all the time when they speak.
