This is 100% the best version of this by far! The people, choreography and music are the best in this original version.

Watching this takes me back to being in the living room at 3 years old with a VHS player.

This makes me glad to be alive. The best dance performance of all damn time.

What amazes me about this dance is how smooth their transitions are. There is almost never a moment when they are not moving, no pauses for breath or collection just one continuous set of movements.

I love this performance not just because of the skill and awesomeness of the dancers but also because in the newer ones all the guys have short hair cuts and it's fun to see that 90's hair flip as the guys flip through the air every head turn it's like whoosh whoosh whoosh.

Of all the Riverdance performances, I like the original, and this dance the best. Great music and great people !

This never gets old for me. I watch this and it reminds me how spectacular this entire program was. The physical achievement alone is beyond belief. Add the choreography and tight music and it really soars.

The choreography is intense and it shows that it requires a lot of physical effort, but they have such grace to dance that they seem to have mastery of the air. Years and years of training, discipline and hard work. These girls/guys are awesome! ♥

Dancing, and Russian-influenced dancing in particular, requires ungodly strength and endurance. *Boxers* don't need as much.

They make it looks so effortless, like gravity just takes a little break every time they leap or twirl.

The incredible dancing and incredible musicianship displayed here fills me with awe and admiration that anyone can achieve such perfection.

They have to be amongst the greatest dancers in history!!!

I remember growing up and wanting to be the chick in the blue outfit. Now as a 33 yr old I can confidently say my dog is as flexible as her. Maybe that counts for something? A German Shep Golden retriever lab mix that looks like a doberman and dances like a ballerina.

The best performance I ever seen

I'm no expert on ballet, but I'm sure this dance exemplifies why Russian ballet, with it's powerful and athletic dance is by far the best. Far more interesting to watch than French ballet, which is so rigid and form-centric. I don't think this original version of "Riverdance" was ever released on DVD. Michael Flatley fell out with the original producer after the VHS release and the show was tweaked to avoid lawsuits. Later DVD releases were a different show.

Only in this dance tunes all Irish and from former Soviet republics - Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan Russian tunes, such as "Kalinka", "Barynia" - no, unfortunately. Is it possible then that Popuri called Russian, even if wonderful dancers from Moscow, St. Petersburg ... Rather - Soviet (post-Soviet) And this is not about a single word! That is the question Everyone knows that the dervishes - a Muslim East. Only little is known that there are: Dervish - Irish musical group; "Dervishes" (group) - music band from Kazakhstan. Прекрасное исполнение. Браво! Только в этом танце все мелодии ирландские и из бывших республик СССР - Молдавии, Украины, Белоруссии, Казахстана... Русских мелодий, типа "Калинка".., "Барыня" - нет, к сожалению. И об этом ни одного слова! Вот в чем вопрос... Все знают, что дервиши - это мусульмане Востока. И только немногим известно, что: Dervish - ирландский музыкальный коллектив; "Дервиши" (группа) - музыкальный коллектив из Казахстана.

It is choreographed by Igor Moiseyev in 1994. Riverdance asked him to put the dance. He gratis did that and sent a group of his dancers(known now as "Moscow Folk Ballet Company") that they have taught Irish.But Riverdance lured those Russian dancers, and they became to dance in Riverdance(but very soon they were sacked).And now in the titles Moiseyev isn't an author.The result-Riverdance making money and not paying for author's rights.

I hope they do this dance when they come in May to The Fox, this is definitely my fave of all of them.

The funnest looking dance on Riverdance

This is one of my favorite choreographies ever. I've watched it over and over since I was about 6, I wore out our Riverdance VHS. This one in particular still brings tears to my eyes. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO CHOREOGRAPHED IT? I know Michael Flatley was the artistic director, and they brought in the Russian National Ballet (I think I'm recalling the name) for this piece but I'd love to know.
