Lyrics:
Inside. Watching the core
of whatever we had left of our lives
The multiplications divide
We drink to quench the thirst to come
With the bones that we left the trap was sprung
Blind ancient and malevolent. Cosmos divides
The truth is we never ever had truth in sight
We spat on this purpose
We ate of whatever was left
The chasm beneath us will open and swallow the rest
Me the broken cog
You seem to not have understood
Knives out. Strings set in motion
You act like you’re surprised
Pre-emptive strike. Ruin. Chaos. Focus
Whispers Murmurs Voices Voices
Whispers Purpose Voices Murmurs
Whispers Murmurs Voices Voices
Whispers Murmurs Voices Purpose

@@alee7275 so you want beautiful songs all the time . Nah man that's just too main stream....look what happened with Obzen. All ppl still talk about is bleed . I mean Obzen started with one of their best most explosive songs and no one talks about it . Meanwhile , 14 fucking years have gone by . That's a long time . Dude Meshuggah isn't Slayer who's music never changed but Meshuggah is still here still playing . And constantly delivering. You might only love the beautiful tunes and guitar riffs but the truth is if you ask the band members , Obzen might not even be their favorite work . They've released that album as a hook to bring more people to the genre , and why a bridge . They brought ppl...some only stayed for Obzen and moved on , some stayed...i stayed . Chaosphere is a really good album , catch 33 is probably my favorite Meshuggah album . Yes i said it . Get used to it , there will be only one Obzen . Koloss reassured that some of the ppl who were on that bridge actually crossed it . After koloss and before Obzen . That's where Meshuggah really is . Obzen is Wonderful don't get me wrong i fucking love that album , but i know there is so much more to Meshuggah. All Meshuggah albums are different and there lies the beautiful madness of it all. Always immutable, Meshuggah , never the same.

@@adino20 I think they do more interesting stuff on this record than they have done since 1998. Nearly every song has melodic overdubs, loads of layered guitar leads, etc. What album was more melodic? Last time Fredik played more than 3 jazz chords in a row was on DEI. Now God He Sees in Mirrors features a cool chord progression. Most of their albums have been 95% chugging/solo/chugging, occasionally with some simple leads thrown in. I'm sure they've done more with melody/harmony this time.
@adino20
@adino20 2 жыл бұрын
@@SchnitzelKraft there are moments on this album which are very melodic and chill (the instrumental track and the closure which I honestly really like because everything else is just the shittiest most boring riffs they have ever made) but everything else you said is just wrong. There is as much layered guitars as every other record, only this time they back up the least harmonious and melodic riffs they've ever made. Everything before Obzen had really cool diminished and whole tone harmony injected into all the riffs but now it's straight open note chuggs and realllly ugly chromatic riffs. I mean are you seriously glamming on the 10 second harmony in the middle of god he sees in mirrors as an example of more melody and harmony in meshuggah???? IT LASTS LIKE 10 SECONDS and is surrounded by horrible, basic riffs like every song on this terrible album.

This record is so fucking insane!! It punches you in the face right off the bat. After hearing the singles I thought this one was going to be more straight forward but I’m glad I am wrong (although nothing wrong with being simple sometimes). Broken Cog is definitely an epic opener but I think They Move Below would’ve been better IMO. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥☺️😉😊👍🏽🙌🏽

It's like a trick, the singles kinda lowered my expectations somehow. I didn't think they sounded great either. Then today I listened to the whole album on Spotify and boy was I wrong. This is a good album.

@@reezlaw Same, singles didn't do much to me either, although I liked the sound. But I was very pleasantly surprised how atmospheric the whole album was - very reminiscent of "Catch 33" and, oddly enough, of Morbid Angel's "Gateways to Annihilation". Superheavy, dark, warm and cozy :^)

4:25 hearing Jens scream after whispering up until that point gets me pumped. Then the whispering at the end makes it even harder.

@@maxcarnage6962 This is how you weed out reviews, the ones who talk about Jens "whispering" haven't heard any other albums and don't know what's going on.

This album hits so hard. I think the ending of Phantoms is maybe my favourite Meshuggah section ever. Eargasms aplenty.

well since they watered it down a bit it probably will 🙄 this album was meh. its very accessible to normies so it should do just fine at the grammys.
