(Life is Strange and Before The Storm spoilers) This song is even more devastating when Rachel and Chloe are put in context. The song is about 2 mountains having a conversation with each other. The mountains plan on leaving and starting a new life together. The mountains believe that they can leave together but the listener of the song knows that the mountains physically can’t move. It’s meant as a metaphor to lovers who plan on starting a new life together but are unable to. This is Rachel and Chloe’s situation. They both planned on leaving Arcadia Bay together, like that one night in before the storm. But then Rachel found out about her mom and their plans were ruined. They still wanted to leave but then, Rachel was murdered. Chloe and Rachel are the 2 mountains, they believed they would run off together to have a fresh start. But they sadly were unable to.

I really love the simple yet effective use of the dual acoustic accompanied with the subtle violin. If you break the harmonics of the song down you'll find that its tones are reflective to that of - Oh fuck it who am I kidding it's because of Life Is Strange.

As I understand, the man had served in an army and had another family while on duties, so he decided to bury all those memories away from his current family. And then his granddaughter found the chest and was about to give a call to her mother (man's daughter), but changed her mind and kept it all in secret. What do you think?

This song represents Rachel and Chloe's relationship so well. If you listen to the lyrics, it's And we could run away Before the light of day You know we always could The mountains say, the mountains say The mountains are wanting to run away, but they just can't. Rachel promised Chloe that they'd leave and move to LA. They wanted to run away, and they ALMOST did. But they never managed to escape Arcadia bay. Maybe "the light of day" is the realization that Chloe and Rachel just didn't have the passionate romantic relationship that they thought they had in the beginning. Who knows? All I know is that now I'm sad and I'm gonna go cry.

I would have been waaaaay too young to play Life is Strange when it first came out, but I'm playing it now when I'm around Max's age and I love it sooo much. This song is my favourite from the whole soundtrack. It conveys the horror and the tradegy sooooo well

I see a lot of comments about Life Is Strange. Truth be told, I was one of those earlier comments. That’s exactly how I ended up here too, but now this song has a completely different meaning to me and I couldn’t leave without sharing it. So, here goes. Much like Chloe, I had a friend go missing during the pandemic. Well, she was more than a friend. So much more. She really pushed me to become the person I am today, without her I wouldn’t have found the courage to do much of anything. We hadn’t talked in years, not since we graduated but there wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think about her. That I didn’t wish I could go back, do it differently so I didn’t break her heart over my own stupid bullshit. I still think about the plans we made, it’s still a dream I hold onto. Starting over, making a new life in a new place where nobody knows we even exist. That dream keeps me going after all these years, even if I’m never going to be able to make them happen with her and it hurts to admit it. She and I are the mountains in this song. Chloe and Rachel are too, which is only one reason out of a laundry list why I say I see so much of myself and her in Chloe and Rachel. Two lovers who want nothing more than to run away with each other, but when they try they realize there’s so much more they’re tied to. And by the time they’re able to, it’s far too late. To this day, this song brings me to tears. But now, it’s for a much different reason than reminding me of a sad scene in a video game. Through everything that happened with her, and everything else I’ve had to endure in life, music has been one of my only outlets where I can really get my emotions out of my system. Whether it’s writing my own music or having the same song on loop for half an hour because it perfectly describes what I feel in the moment, it’s been the only thing keeping me sane. And going off that, I can’t tell you how many times I have listened to this song over the last couple years. Thank you for helping me make it through the hardest time of my life, I don’t know what else I can really say to express how grateful I am because words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now. "Rachel in the Dark Room, Rachel in the Dark Room, Rachel..." God, the scene in the junkyard made my stomach turn. Ash is such a talented actress too, she really sold it for me. In choice-based games, I normally don't kill whenever I have the chance. But what Jefferson's done... I can't find anyway to forgive the bastard. So if there's an option to blow his hipster skull off his fucking shoulders I'm taking it, no hesitation.

After you finished Episode 2 (BTS). When Rachel and Chloe talked about everything, about leaving Arcadia Bay, never coming back, and actually they planned to do that, but that dinner distracted them. And when you come back in LiS Episode 4 when they found Rachel's body and this song plays. Those 4 powerful lines: And we could run away Before the light of day You know we always could the mountains say, the mountains say When you focus on lyrics, it makes you cry so so so much. Admit that nothing made you cry so much in LiS, not even ending after coming back to EP4 after BTS.

Listening to this when you’ve just lost someone is just..... Chloe manages to capture it perfectly. “How can see be dead?”

I love this song. It makes me think about all the impossible things i tell myself i can do. Like a mountain saying it can run away. We humans keep lying to ourselves about things we can do to escape our situations, yet deep down in our hearts, we know some things cannot be changed. In "life is strange", we know Rachel is dead, but we tell ourselves we can change the future with our poer. We were so accustomed to changing the future that, when we find her body, we remember that the power we had could never make her come back, because of its own limitations.

I used to go on long walks thinking about my dad and how much pain he was in going thru colon cancer amongst other illnesses. Now that he passed away last year...I'm just like her in the video...trying to dig up memories wishing I could talk to him one last time. Love you Dad, miss you every day 💔

What pain must've been in the old man's heart to be so desperate to escape the memories... I can't imagine. Heartbreaking. I cling to my memories to ease the pain of loss. My heart breaks for the many people in this world that live with that pain in realtime. The music is perfect. What a gripping video...to the soul.

After finding Rachel all I need to hear are the opening notes before I start tearing up.

Life is Strange showed me this song 8 years ago, it has been in every single "chill" playlist I do ever since, right at the top.

playing BtS right now. Seeing Rachel healthy and ALIVE is so confusing since I know that she has only three years of life left. AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Hopefully that time with Chloe on her side would be the best time of her life.

[LIFE IS STRANGE BTS SPOILER!] Now I realize the lyrics of this song and the parallels to Rachel and Chloe. Before the Storm was hard to play. I always had the picture of Rachel's dead body in my head. I saw Chloe's happy face over the game when she was with Rachel and I was like; noo. Please not.

It still disturbs me that in the end Chloe realized that everything horrible happening to her was a result of the fact that the universe didn't think she should exist anymore. That everything that was ever her was slowly being erased to heal the time wound.

*SPOILER ALERT LIFE IS STRANGE EPISODE 4* Man tears where shed when they found Rachel in the junkyard..The song fits perfectly with what's happening in the episode. I must say I did not enjoy playing episode 4. Everything is messed up with all people around Max. Such a dark episode...

To me to this song was about hope and happiness in memories with a side of sadness that it brings once loved one has passed away. What the game made me feel totally threw that out and associated it with unnatural death and despair.. Will never forgive them for doing that.

This song just gets even more difficult to listen to now that we've met Rachel and gotten to know her. I love Before the Storm but it's heart wrenching to play it, already knowing both of their fates, especially seeing how cute they were together.
