This song hit me so hard. Dealing with my mom laying in the hospital from a major stroke. My dad being mean because he has dementia. My family trying to pull together but falling apart. I just want my mom.

6 years later and I came back to the same place, this song changed my soul. How the lyrics talks loud of my soul and my heart, speaks through the feelings that I can’t even imagine that’s possible to feel. And it’s magic, it’s art. ❤️

when i was traveling, i heard seafret for the first time. It reminded me of my best friend who had problems with drugs. there was a big distance between us like an ocean, I was here and she was there - so unapproachable ... when she died this year, I directed "Oceans" to play at her funeral. this song sparked a wave of mourning. "This song’s perfect that fits between her in the sky and me on earth - „It feels like there's oceans between me and you once again“

Her eyes at the end emitted the same purple light we see her use with her hands. The reason I think that is important is because of the fact that we know based off the scene in which she stands in front of a mirror and holds her hand up and it is glowing with power. But the reflection in the glass remains normal, showing us that the powers she has are not real except for in her head. A defence mechanism manifested due to the lack of guardianship/parents, the pervasive loneliness she feels, and for the bullying she goes through, and the powerlessness and isolation that she feels because of it. However; even though we see that in the real world the powers are nonexistent; those powers are real to her, in her head. Hence the pink glow. We watch her go through the video and see what she sees; and not necessarily exactly what happens. We are able to differentiate between those two perspectives (hers and the actual reality of what’s happening) by her powers; and that pink glow that emits when she wants something to be different. She gets home and is alone, after having a day where she was picked on and bullied; and she feels alone and like a victim. She has no one to say “it’s ok, you’re beautiful, being unique is a good thing; you are safe, you are loved, you are not alone”. So she puts on something that makes her feel strong, and gives her memories of being close to someone she loves, probably her mom who I assume made the cape and mask. We see her from her perspective; with a hand raised with the pink light; a symbol of her having power and no longer being a victim, but rather someone who has the power to protect herself. This light seems to always appears when she is in a high emotional state- after having been bullied all day while at school; and arriving home desperately calling for her mom, who likely symbolizes protection and comfort, and not being alone. We then see the light next after she gets beat up by a gang of bullies. After it happens, she once again is left feeling weak, powerless and alone. Note the bullies being in a group, and her being on her own. Then after they leave, she rises up and we see her perspective of not wanting to be alone and bullied and powerless manifest as she imagines the bullies being punished. She imagines she has that power while in a high emotional state once again; after feeling powerless. She runs away afterwards, and finally arrives back at home. She runs up to her mom, who turns around with a shocked and loving look, showing she is shocked at her daughter’s appearance (bloody nose). However. We then see her open her eyes while in the embrace of her mom; and see… that same pink light that appears every time she feels alone and scared, powerless and just wanting comfort and love. That same pink light that shows us that what is going on is happening in her head.. I believe her mom was NOT home at the end. I believe we see the pink light glowing from her eyes because she is using her “power” of imagination, not to punish her oppressors, but to do the same thing she did while looking in the mirror after being bullied all day. To comfort herself. We see the light because she is imagining herself being held by her mom. Her mom who is not there In reality. She is still alone, and still hurting. And as every scene with the pink glow of power throughout the video previous to this scene showed us; the glow is representing her creating in her head a way to comfort and protect herself. Her mom isn’t there. She’s alone, and hurting, and she is developing a defensive mechanism that one day very well could lead to schizophrenia, hallucinations, depression (obviously), abandonment issues and a fear of other people brought on by her not having a parent who lives and protects her, and every other person in her life being bully’s and victimizers. It’s truly a heartbreaking and (in my opinion) a rather realistic depiction of what the lack of any parent/protector/Gaurdian or friends coupled with a relentless onslaught of violence, hate, malevolence and complete aloneness can do to a child. It makes me so sad; but I’m also awestruck by the creativity and insight in the video and song, and how so much is said without being said; and how so much is felt by the viewer, without the viewer actually experiencing the events depicted. Wonderful song, and beautiful video. Remember- you are not alone, and you have more power than you think. Regardless of whether everyone else can see it. ❤

If you look in the mirror when she holds up her hand and it glows it dosent glow in the mirror. That makes me think that the purple glow is just a a lonely persons imagination.

Used to play this song when my parents first divorced, I was just 10. My dad moved 6 hours away and I was stuck with my mom who was an alcoholic and had mental problems, and around this time was the first time I self harmed. I really wish I could go back in time and save myself. Looking back on this song makes me really nostalgic.

Went thru a split recently with someone and during the final conversation we had, this song popped in my head. Because it got to the point where it felt like there were oceans between us when before we were closer than ever. I didn't have the strength to keep chasing after someone who tries to bury their feelings rather than deal with them. Especially when it's someone you say you love. Don't hide your feelings from the people who care about you. They are there to help, not to bring you down. And if they try to bring you down, run far and run fast.

2024 ! Man time flies

Sempre volto a escutar essa música e sentir o sentimento que ela carrega.

I think the purple hand stuff is resembling courage. When she sees it at home but puts it away, when she stands up to the bullies, and when she's with her mom she has it.

I have a theory about the connection of the song and the video: The real story here in my opinion is about someone who is so different on the surface, in the way she acts, from who she really is. "me" and "you" in the song are basically the same person who just feels so far away from her true self. There are oceans between them like stated in the song. In the video that girl puts on the mask and the cape to try to be more like herself, and the bullies symbol the difficulties in the process, they are the ones pulling her down. They make her hide her emotions and act normal instead of just being herself, and when she tries to resist them like in the video she gets hurt. In the end she finally overcomes the struggles of fighting to be her true self and by her power which is her emotions she finally becomes her true self, who she really wants to be. Weather or not this theory is true I find it highly interesting so I'm just sharing it here.
