What happened to the edge protectors? I expected a nice bit of bias-type-tape or fabric edging to help make the edges that are touched my fingers would not stretch during use.

Depends on who you ask. While it is mostly handmade the sewing machine makes it not completely handmade and calling it that takes away from those of us that actually hand sew everything. Also the durability of machine over hand is different…hand sewing definitely has the advantage there.
