The Meta-XY in this video was commissioned by a company for engraving identification tags.
At the core of this particular system is a 100w RF CO2 pulsed laser. The laser utilises a 3-axis motion system driven by ball screws and closed loop control. Before finding a solution for this company, the process was completed by a typical plotter system, however Lotus Laser proposed a galvanometer-based solution with a large format work area to increase throughput.
The machine has a total marking area of 700x500mm and in this video it takes just 15 minutes and 12 seconds to produce 105 tags, less than 9 seconds per tag. This is in contrast to the company’s previous method and system for marking tags, using a typical plotter based system, which takes far more time and has a much lower overall machine lifetime.
Not only does the Meta-XY increase throughput for this company, it also gives improved quality.
