Hahah yeah because Eddie is the end all to guitar playing. Dude what he does isn't impossible, maybe back in 80's very few could do it, now it's not as uncommon.

 When you Listen to Testament, then to Alex Skolnick Trio you understand that Alex is the last of his kind, i mean he's phenomenal, same thing goes for Chris Poland and Dave Lombardo who are founding members of the Thrash Metal genre yet they are actually jazzmen! anahowana I wouldn't lose faith in new upcoming bands, I've heard some great stuff from some younger dudes (check out Revocation). No one can reinvent Thrash, but there's dudes out there that can shred just as good and often better than the pioneers. I'd just say to enjoy them all, and never give up on the Metal!

Kevin Kiso Yeah I thought he could've done it better, but it was probably a mix of lack of practice, nerves, and possibly fatigue. There were quite a few parts of the show where they could have performed better, but the whole show had kind of a party vibe, like they were just there to have fun, so I don't know how dedicated they were in the practice sessions.

TheUltim8Apocalypse I agree as I noticed that too - I could see everyone was having a good, good time. I have always admired Alex greatly. But didn't it kind of seem almost like the guitar sort of became foreign and obscure in his hands just at that moment? But yes, I agree with you 100%. And nothing but respect for those cats. :)

Yeah, and he probably tripped out a little bit like he realized all the focus was on him and he had to get comfortable in the middle of the whole solo. It all happens so fast when you're on stage, it's easy to let the short moments get the better of you.

It happens! This is not pro-level classical music, where absolute perfection is expected.

I took a ton of pictures but only recorded the songs I knew really well. This was just on my iPhone so I had to mind the battery. Hopefully someone else will have some Chuck footage!

It was all old school music, stuff that influenced the guys playing on stage. Van Halen might not be "metal" by today's standards but for the time it came out it definitely was.

No I was around then. I remember people saying how they bridged the gap between genres such as pop and hard rock. It was never metal. Maybe you are thinking of early sabbath. The term metal didn't come to later. My original comment still stands.

James Coleman Whatever VH is, it was definitely an influence on them. They only played a couple VH songs out of like 20 in the set, so there was plenty of classic metal in the mix.

They are supposedly covering all of van halens first album soon.

I see what you mean, but it's clear he isn't comfortable with the lyrics, since he's constantly looking down at a monitor in front of him (with the skull and crossbones sticker) for the next lines. I know from experience that if you're not super familiar with the lyrics then it's hard to focus on the delivery (just watch any of my vocal covers, lol)
