I made one of these with a heavy duty L shaped Shelf Bracket . I cut it off. Some of the holes are already there . Drilled two more and stuck 1/4 inch bolts on . Walaahhh, Job Done !

Excellent. I guess you could even make the handle longer. I got some reo and want to make something from it. Looking. For ideas. This is a good project. I like your design . Well done.

I’m a real newbie at this - but how do you work out where to put the pins, measurements etc. either way it looks a great simple idea that I’d like to try and make. Thanks.

Hi Michael thanks a lot! I chose the positions of the pins just by feeling not too narrow for too much effort and not too wide for an accurate bend.

3 questions for you. What is the diameter of the pins? What thickness is the angle stock? What max diameter round stock have you bent with it?

do you heat the metal bar that you are going to bend? If so how much?

Nice, as a constructor I recommend make longer handle. Then you will need less strength :)

Yes you are right with a longer handle it would be easier to bend thicker rods but it was the rest from the rod that I had used for the pins and also the last one with this thickness in my shop, so now I can save the Gym when I have used my bender for a while. 😁

Could also use a longer pipe that fits over the handle to get extra leverage

Could you put one of those pins on a slotted hole, so that you could vary the bend radius or even possibly bend larger bars?

Yes, that should be possible but I think the pin should fit tight to the hole otherwise it could snap off.

What size is the bar? 3/8. Or 1/2 ?

It's a 16mm bar so a bit more than 1/2

Ja so was von Hand zu schneiden macht bestimmt Spaß 😁. Das dauert mit der Bandsäge schon ewig, da kann man gemütlich einen Kaffee trinken gehen bis die durch ist.
