Please join me on a metal detecting adventure that starts near an old graveyard that appears to have human bones scattered in the fields nearby. I don't know if this was a result of plowing over unmarked graves or grave robbing of the above-ground crypts. I also search for and find a prohibition-era gambling and prostitution hall that has long fallen into disuse and disrepair.
About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my KZfaq "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

The flower you picked up is from a Yellow Jessamine. It’s a flowering vine native to the Carolinas that starts flowering in March. Smells very sweet. It is the state flower of SC.

Thanks for the info! I did notice them up in the trees a little later in the trip. I at first thought it was a ground flowering plant.

@@debrabrooks6138 - had to look it up in the plant-books. Jessamine is nothing like a Jasmine, and it doesn't seem to be available in the UK, possibly too invasive, so is banned from import.

Good lesson on that big chunk of metal. It would do a lot of damage to any farm machinery. Always leave a detecting site better than you found it.

I found a big old piece of carbon steel that was probably off of a combine harvester or tractor attachment on the surface in a ploughed farmers field a few years back when I was field walking to see what was around. I wonder if a metal detectorist had dug that up because it was pretty heavy. In the same farmers field on the surface (by a river in Abridge, Essex/London, UK) I found a piece of bronze that I suspect could be a fragment from a band from a byzantine bucket and the next field on apparently has a roman villa underneath the soil somewhere. I miss metal detecting. I used to go over what was Warley barracks up until the 50's and dig up bullet cases, slugs, blank 303 rifle rounds and live but misfired 303 rounds. My dad and his mates back in the late 50's found some dynamite over there when they were youths and lit it and exploded it by the old firing range wall lol. I found a mills bomb hand grenade not far away from there, in a wood called Hartswood about a foot down under some rubble and it was like a large yellow rusty looking egg. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it and felt the weight of it. I cleaned it up very carefully with a screwdriver, scraping the sulphur smelling rusty mud off of it until it was back to the bare metal. The release bar that goes down the side was gone and the split pin was still in it. I left the rusty mud on that bit lol. I opened up the brass fill plate to look inside it and there was no cordite sticks in there, it had all leached out over the decades. I found out from an ex RAF guy i worked with that without the cordite in them, those grenades can still explode and be dangerous just from the detonation charge in the fuse lol. I'm too disabled with my back to metal detect nowadays, though I used to love it. I get almost the same level of enjoyment watching you dig stuff up :D. Cheers for what you do Beau

Here in southeast Missouri in my area we had what seemed like a mass die out of box turtles as well. Was late 90s. In the fall we would find turtle shells every time we went out. Had a stack of them as kids. I’ve seen plenty dead in roads but we haven’t found a shell in the woods in years.
