Your storytelling skils (so much set up and creative payoff) and especially your voice acting control comes across as effortless, honestly phenomenal skillset at display here. And that's before considering the insanity of writing so much of your own music for this stuff. Just amazing work, especially considering how few essays you've made and how they've been top shelf the whole time. I know people say this all the time, but it's honestly strange you don't have more subscribers considering the 11/10 production value. And I say this all as someone who has been putting a token effort into essaying myself.

In Snake Eater, Sokolov compliments Snake’s Russian, implying the dialogue is fluent in Russian, but is shown through the game as fluent English. I wish MGSV had non-English native speakers have different accents to reflect that Venom doesn’t have the same language skills. Maybe Kaz could drop some Japanese expecting Venom would get it, only to realize he “lost” his capacity for any language besides English.

The conflicting tone was always something that stood out to me. For every goofy cutscene of Ocelot singing happy birthday to Snake, there's a traumatic scene of Quiet about to be raped. It's very jarring Also the Sly Cooper 3 music at 1:20:01 gave me flashbacks to my childhood

I wished the mother base was more like the one in peace walker, with actual stuff that makes it look like a military base and not an oil rig. I’ve seriously been following the ARG since June of 2023 and have like a ten page document keeping track of everything. Now I’m stuck and I don’t know if I’m missing anything or if maybe that’s the point.

I've commented on the individual parts before, but I wanna use this collection to just lay it all out. I LOVE this series of videos. The basic analysis of the game from a story and gameplay level is incredibly solid, the humor style gives these videos so much personality, and the whole incorporation of the initial no-kill run and the trumpets to represent Snake's gradual corruption over the course of the story, as well as how the mechanics push the player to become corrupted themselves, is one of the coolest examples of experimental storytelling I've ever seen. And on top of that, all the music you made for these videos is incredible, so much so that it lead to me becoming a big fan of your music in general, detached from this whole project. (And, breaking the kayfabe for a second, all that stuff with the other channel has been extremely interesting. It started off with me checking it out and leading a few cringey comments not understanding the bit and then trying poorly to play along, but since I've just become fucking captivated by it, watching others try to figure it out. It's really fascinating, even if most of it goes over my head.) All in all, this series has been extremely fun to follow, and as sad as it is that it's over, I'm super excited to see what comes next with more of the Assassin's Creed stuff and whatever follows that. Really hope you decide to do something with Death Stranding like you said you might one day, I'd love to see your take on it. But either way, looking forward to the next upload, whenever it's ready!

I have 1400 hours on MGSV. I view it as a game with amazing gameplay but it's a shame we'll never see Kojima's full vision thanks to Konami.

To be completely fair, The End had functional lungs and was able to breathe. Quiet’s lungs were damaged by the attack at the beginning of the game, so she relies more heavily on her parasite’s photosynthetic abilities to replace her lungs whereas The End used them to conserve his body’s energy by channeling the parasite’s. I dunno, it made sense to me and never bothered me (except in the trailer where it seemed like it was just for sexualizing her character).

Cameras are another way the enemies counter specific playstyles from the player, just like headshotting makes soldiers wear helmets, sniping makes them use decoys, etc. Not sure what triggers the need for cameras though

I really love how you wear your influences on your sleeve instead of shying away from them in fear of seeming derivative. I see a lot of the DNA from Steak Bentley's MGS3 video here & that's a massive compliment. It's people's inspirations & what they do with them that makes them unique & there's nothing quite like your content out there. You're the first guy I've seen to tie an entire ARG to a video game review. That's pretentious & needlessly complicated, just like how a true genius kojumbo fan would do it. Don't be deterred from doing stuff like this in the future because a few people are complaining, it's great.

This is an absolutely fantastic video. I have never seen MGSV video cover as much of the game before in a perfect way. Not only do you go over the story of the game, what happens, cool bits, but also how one may feel while playing in the aspect of deciding to kill others to save your men, your base. I know it was mainly just a funny bit but you summed it up perfect how I felt playing, trying my best to not kill but in the end giving in to the demon.

Ok, so my interpretation of what is missing from the video and WHY the video doesn't talk about the "full game": Long story short, the answers are contained in the actual game. There are parts of the game he did not talk about, and he didn't talk about them because they recontextualize what this video is. The end of the ARG is the actual game. That's where the answers you seek lie. And you can TELL we're missing something, because the entire Metal Gear Solid lore is just Revolver Ocelot (the only character with a braincell) manipulating a bunch of idiots until he eventually achieves world peace in MGS4. And he didn't reveal who he was playing double-agent for in this video. (And you know he is, because it's Revolver f*cking Ocelot). You can also deduce that AskYourUncle is up to something because his MGS trilogy lore-explanation video also ended up paralleling the lie told in MGS2, by making the viewer live through a similar lie to the actual game. His way of explaining the themes of the game didn't revolve around saying it with words, his way of explaining it revolved around putting you through the same story as those who played MGS2 blind. And that's his way of explaining what makes MGS2 such a well-crafted story, the fact that the player experirence ends up proving the themes of the game. Raiden is put in the same position as the player, just as AskYourUncle puts the viewer in the same position as the player. All of them do so by being misleading at to what the topic was actually about. As for MGSV, this is, at it's core, a revenge story about a group of mercenaries who suffer a bombing incident that takes away something from them. And you can tie this to basically every main character who was important in Ground Zeroes: Kaz loses his leg, Paz loses her memory, Chico loses his life, etc. The exceptions to this are Revolver Ocelot, whose narrative role is exclusive to manipulating everyone while working for somebody else, and Big Boss, who lost his arm...? (There's an argument to be made that the prosthetic is an improvement due to its utility... and the only other way he got affected by the crash is because he had shrapnel in his head, which is more of a gained attribute rather than a loss). But with every waking moment in MGSV, you see how these characters feel that loss. Kaz talks about it with his arm, even though he's lost something, he still feels pain on that arm. The game is literally called the phantom pain. And I'd like to add on another rhetorical question. Paz lost something in the incident (her memory), and AskYourUncle pointed out that he thinks everything would be better if they just lied to her. Let her forge her entire identity around some made up story that isn't really true. And whenever a character is living a lie, that's something Uncle points out as a recurring motif. With it being in mind how this is the story of how a bunch of people react to the loss of something that feels like it should be there, I'd like to point out that all of the discourse around this game is about how much they miss the cut content. How much fans hate how Kojima left, and with it all the cut ideas from a third part of the game. How much it has a "non-ending". The question I fully believe that this video poses is if you can tell a complete story with missing chapters. And knowing how both Uncle and how Kojima write their stories, I think that this video's answer is that MGSV is putting you in a similar position that the plot of MGS2 did. Was MGS2 the story of Raiden, a man fighting against a world that manipulates information and lies to everybody, or the story of a player who had the rug snatched under them by playing a game that switched protagonists into a protagonist who lies about their backstory for almost the entire game? With that in mind, Is this really the story of Big Boss, and how his quest for revenge slowly corrupts him into being a monster that he once despised, leading into the events of MG1/2? Or is MGSV the story of the player? Is is possible that MGSV tie its themes into its gameplay the same way that previous games did? Aside from rhetorical questions that I'd pose to you, this video has a lot more directly posed questions. When do we have to remember THAT tape from Ground Zeroes? What's with the pattern of the trumpets? If this is the good ending, then is the bad ending that important? I'm writing this because I've been thinking that this is what the video is actually about since Chapter 2, because I started to notice the pattern with when the trumpets appear. And I knew what the lie is because, flat out, I've had the final plot twist spoiled for me. So I was looking at the video with that perspective, and with it, came those conclusions. If you want to solve the "ARG", then either play MGSV The Phantom Pain, or look up the other ending. Because the other ending quite literally answers all of the video's "unanswered" questions.

The way you add your own subtle headcanons to your understanding of MGSV (e.g Silent Mastodon being Snake's best man) is such, such a fun way to look at the game. Your variegated approach towards the stealth, voiceovers, methods of playing the game, etc., are super fun to watch. You've earned my sub - and thank you for reigniting my urge to play MGSV. I started watching this video a week ago out of curiosity, and ended up being so hooked I watched it during my lunch break for the rest of the week, and am finally finishing it today, after a day of errands. I've found a new favorite channel, easily. Amazing narration, talented composition, perfect choices of existing video game music (all the Sly Cooper music made me so happy, especially that you included themes that WEREN'T the Paris overworld theme); I loved the narrative you spun throughout it, really appreciated how you played the game so cleverly, and even though I've played this game three times, you still framed the story engagingly enough that I found myself coming back to this even though I've never watched a video this long, ever! This video deserves more praise than I can even give out, but I wanted to shout out the catharsis of Boss finally letting loose after rescuing Code Talker--I love how you 'foreshadowed' it by how beautifully you killed the PFs during the child soldiers mission. I consistently get S ranks on my first try, and your grouping and accuracy seriously impressed me.

A few more tricks in case they haven’t been mentioned in other comments- Children- You can call in a vehicle and put them in it, then Fulton the vehicle to rescue them. PF Points- The weekly league happens automatically, and you earn more points as your army gets stronger. If you quit playing they continue to accumulate. I played the game when it first came out and a few years later and I had way too many points. I think it’s console\PC specific. FOBs- Many people turn on security challenge and lower their level so people can freely beat their empty bases for money and materials. I did the same last play through. DDog Fulton + Rocket Punch + Wormhole = Easiest Game Finally there was one I didn’t know, it was the fully charged arm. That’s awesome and will be trying that next play through!

For me i was already loving this game, although i never completed all the main missions side objectives even with 170 hours in that bad boy, and i didn't knew there were so many eavesdropping dialogues, i need to play this again. also thank god i bought those art books and the guide for MGSV. by the way, how much did it took you to get used to the new voice of Snake ?
