@mr.spider68593 ай бұрын
I like to think that Madnar preferred to base his work after the tried and tested D-Walker (essentially creating a nuclear version of it) rather than after a machine that didn't even work on its own (Sahelanthropus). Hell, in my headcanon Huey probably took credit for the miniaturization technology from Madnar's earlier work, just like he did with Sokolov's and Granin's designs.

I always like this metal gear better, the flaw of the old metal gears is that they we're too slow and large when it came to fighting smaller opponents. Big boss had it made more like a tank, has he had no desire to launch nukes as it didn't need the function. Entire point of Zanzibar Land was to make the world see him as a target.
@Mark_nobody33 ай бұрын
Metal gear Rex was the improved version of all those previous metal gears because thanks to Hal help but he regrets the truth on what it was used for when he meet snake as for Metal gear Ray it was built to be universal on both land and sea then they realised that bigger nukes is too heavy so they decided to fit mini nukes in the launcher but they fail to work because you need a whole faster network to launch them in a series and got downgraded from nuke to fighting tanks instead but never used to fire a nuke

This soothes my brain so much, all I could think after MGSV is "If Sahelanthropus was already a thing, what can this thing do besides remind me vaguely of REX?" Be really fast. Like *scary* fast. Taking out all those combatants so quickly is impressive, and the jump height and run speed and even turning speed are terrifying. It even puts REX's Street Fighter Mode to shame. And knowing it's a prototype of Metal Gear D makes me wonder what *that* was capable of. There's a lot of positive things I'd like to say but I'll focus on the portrayal of MG. It's awesome, even terrifying. In the context of the series, TX-55 is not the coolest Gear ever but it's still incredibly dangerous and this animation shows why. I also really like that instructions on how to surrender were given through the animation on a video screen. Metal Gear can be deployed against any army from any country, speaking different languages, but the meaning behind this cartoon can be understood by everyone. Really enjoyed this work!

It's funny to see this now, I was having a chat with a buddy of mine the other day about why having legs alone makes Metal Gear more dangerous. This animation demonstrates the versatility of MG's legs perfectly, and in a few ways that not even Rex, Ray, or Sahelanthropus did.
@averageanimeenjoyer02757 ай бұрын
Many critique sahelantropus for being too "modern" of a design, however whan many fail to understand was that Sahelantropus was 24m tall when standing upright, Peace Walker in bipedal mode was huge, 25m tall and the ZEKE would be around the same height as those two... These machines were huge, probably in order to accomodate the nuclear launcher (Peace Walker) due to being made with parts form the Peace Walker AI-Weapons (ZEKE) and in order to be a large walking bomb (Sahelantropus). What many forgot is that Sahelantropus is the pinnacle of Granin designs, if we take a look at Granin's designs they are basically showing the Metal Gear REX, that's no coincidence. "Huey" Emmerich was given this designs and used them as basis that's why ZEKE is very "REX" looking, and that's the reason behind Sahelantropus's head and "folded" pose. The TX-55 was tiny in comparison 6.05m, it was a miniaturization of the concept of Metal Gear, an attempt at the concept by a new developer, one who probably never even touched Granin's designs, his sole interaction with the idea probably being the wreck of the Sahelantropus, the Battle Gear and Walker Gear. This new developer was tasked or saw the Sahelantropus as to big, and complex, as such he was drawn to the Walker Gear, he enlarged it and improved it's mobility, however armor to the legs had to be sacrificed, that's why there is little armor in the legs in both the TX-55 and Metal Gear D.
@morsecode9804 ай бұрын
That’s basically my process. TX-55 in my Headcanon was made to be produced cheaply and quickly, with less complex components. All the power of previous MG’s, at half the cost and production time
@averageanimeenjoyer02754 ай бұрын
@@morsecode980intersting headcanon, to which i find myself in agreement. another theory as to why the TX-55 is "simplistic" compared to previous designs is that Outer Heaven didn't have the capacity to produce extremely complex metal gears like Rex, Sahelanthropus and Peace Walker however, your headcanon does have some lore support albeit in the form of a Non-canon game, Snake's revenge, in that game there were mass produced metal gears, called Metal Gear 1 (VRC-4) which is basically the TX-55 with very limited modifications. mass produced metal gears which snake destroyed by blowing up the ship they were on.
@morsecode9804 ай бұрын
@@averageanimeenjoyer0275 In canonical lore, the designer of TX-55, Dr. Madnar, was also from the Soviet Union/Russia like Granin and also Sokolov, designer of the Shagohod from MGS3. To expand a little more on my headcanon, I assumed Madnar probably became familiar with both Sokolov and Granin’s research since he too was a robotics engineer. My imaginary “Chapter 3” of MGSV would introduce Madnar as being XOF’s 2nd choice for a Metal Gear designer after losing Huey Emmerich. XOF wants Madnar to quickly come up with a replacement for Sahelanthropus after it was hijacked by Eli/Liquid, so Madnar starts research on what would later become TX-55 and Metal Gear D. XOF, who had been hiding out in a secret front facility in South Africa since Skull Face’s death, are forced out of hiding by Diamond Dogs and defeated. When DD take over the facility and discover Madnar and his work, they have him continue under them. Cue the creation of Outer Heaven and TX-55, lol.

And in mg1 the metal gear was more talked about than showed of with it's abilities, the only real defenses it had in the original was some security cameras! But this wonderfully shows how the tx55 was way more developed and advanced than the previous metal gears, and how dangerous it truly is! I have always believed tanks would have a place in a world of mechs. Tanks generally are designed to bring the biggest feasible guns to bear in a fight while having excellent frontal protective from peer threats. Tanks are NOT designed for knife fighting highly maneuverable targets at close range. In my opinion in the world of mechs tanks would largely look the same doctrinally. A tracked vehicle with a turreted weapon that has firepower superior to more mobile vehicles and a muzzle velocity that makes the vehicles main weapon almost unavoidable to dodge by mechs. Also enough armor/ an Active Protection System that makes frontal engagement by an adversary a very bad idea and you would create a niche for mechs as a vehicle designed to excel in urban use, flanking maneuvers, and using data linked indirect fire weaponry. This would allows tanks to realistically exist in this world as something that evolved alongside mechs where each has their forte. What are y'alls thoughts?
@awesomefatBruceLee3 ай бұрын
Thats how tanks work in Battletech and Heavy Gear. While in BT tanks are less mobile and easier to cripple than mechs they are FAR cheaper but in Heavy Gear the mobility favors the mechs even more and tanks are typically juggernaut armored units with more armor and guns.
