Deja Vu is an ad song collab with a mobile game called King's Raid so that's why the aesthetics and storyline are quite different from normal DC songs.

dreamcatcher have never been rock-only. since day 1 they've experimented with ballads, edm, pop, and many of their songs are a mix of all of these genres lol. but i'll truly doubt they'll ever let go of their signature rock for their title tracks, since that is what makes them unique and they are very proud of themselves for it. also btw, this whole comeback was in collaboration with the video game "kings raid", they even already have a jp version of the song

you really need to dive into their b-sides and covers, they will really show off how diverse talented they are.

It really pains me that Dreamcatcher isn't more popular. They're amazing vocalists godtear dancers and as a Metalhead I love the rock influence. For another underrated group you should check out Fromis_9. Love bomb and Fun are their most popular songs.

The song sounds like that because it's also an OST por a rpg action-romantic medieval game, and the OSTs tend to mix the mellow part with the epic parts. Apparently the song was meant to be only an OST, but they liked the result so much that they decided to make it a comeback too. (For reference of the previous OST search "Not A Hero-King's Raid".)

I think part of the reason why deja vu was more toned down was to cater to the collaboration with the game which I'm sure helped pour money into the mv. normally they don't spend that much on mvs although they do make it seem that way. you have to remember dreamcatcher really has a tiny fan base. but I do fear they are generally trying to please both sides by toning down the rock/metal more :(. then again many fans had the same fear with you and I but then they came back with hard hitting what lol. now that you checked out all their title tracks, start looking at their special clips. if you haven't checked out their b-sdies, half of them have special clip mvs. plus definitely check out their english covers!

so Deja vi is a collab with the anime mobile game called King´s Raid . The storyline in this is really dark and tragic. Yoohyeon, possessed by evil kills her childhood friend and then proceeds to kill the rest of her friends who came to save her. She is left haunted by her actions and the devastation of losing everyone she loved. The story has no end as of now though because the game is still progressing.

They reminds me evanessence. I really love the combination of soft pop and epic gothic metal.

This is their Kpop resume. It's basically them saying: "Yeah, we nail everything."

This song was super artistic. Deja Vu is basically an art project, it's beautiful.

Honestly, each Dreamcatcher comeback needs to come with a warning. I've been a fan of theirs for almost 2 years now and I'm never prepared. They slay so hard and I just lose my shit every comeback. They are DANGEROUS! lol

I thought PIRI was a rock ballad, but Deja Vu was a real tragic, sad and beautiful song... Not much to appeal to the general public of Korea, it seems they just wanted to show some more versatility. As you said, with all the build up to this release this move was brave to say the least, and I respect their decision... "Breaking out" was more aimed to the Japanese market, but you should check out "My way", which is the B track in their Japan release, which is 1000% animae!! i personally think they should've made that one their title and put some more production and effort...

Okay so the albums are always versatile of course yes they have rock but they do a bit of all genres. Which is really cool. I would definitely check it out! Also they have a lot of special clips which are covers and besides and dnace practice

I just binged all your Dreamcatcher videos and i'm so glad i got to see your journey to becoming a fan (as a metal fan myself too). I do highly recommend listening to b-sides since they experiment with more genres, some still metal, some mixed with others (oh an album intros, those are almost my favorite songs on each album). And Siyeon recently did a rock version of Exo's Overdose on a show called V-1 so that might be something you'd enjoy too! Someone suggested the unhealthy guide, I do recommend that one too (even though it's a bit older).

This song was collab/promotion with the fantasy RPG game King’s Raid. I’d say the style of this song is similar to “What”, where the chorus is intense, but the rest is mellow. Deja Vu was produced by their Japanese company Ponycanyon. So yeah, you can definitely tell that the production is different when you’re listening to their Japanese songs. I really like “Breaking Out” though. That chorus has been stuck in my head for the past few days; I guess/c it’s so different.

I do agree that Deja Vu is a little mellow compared to their past works. I believe however it's particularly different because it's a collaboration with the mobile game "King's Raid". I feel this song has a very strong emotional pull compared to the rest. You can also check out the vid released on the game's official KZfaq channel and maybe you'll agree as well that the song and storyline fits. Personally I feel Piri is the song that they were trying to appeal more to the "generic audiences" instead of the rock/metal fans especially with that addicting hook. As for their other works, you can definitely check out their B-side songs as many others here have recommended (though some of their genre would seem to go off tangent), or their cover songs also as many have pointed out, but I would recommend you try listening to their fan songs too. Also i'm sure you seen lots of comments about the collaboration with Deja Vu and Kings Raid, so i'm not going to say anything, but i still love the song, and the fact they always been versatile is the reason why its still a bop to me. Even though this song wasn't as hard as you expected it, the album has a song called "curse of the spider" that might filled in what you missing here in Deja Vu........ and "Mayday" (did i say Mayday) yes Mayday! 😉

This time it's like they made the song so it suits the opening for the game, if you watch the mv upload by King's Raid it will make more sense as to why it is different from their previous work. :D

You should react to their B Sides. DreamCatcher does a lot of Fake Outs. Their second track on their Japanese album is SO much more ROCK oriented. My Way ~Kono Michi no Sakie~ is legit such a banger. They always have very versatial b-sides, Deja Vu is a crossover for the King Raid game... and is literally the reason I am playing that game. But yeah study up on the Dream Catcher memebrs, theres good video guides by the user shapley and tcheck kprofiles and other memes... the girl you are really into is their charismatic leader Kim Minji or JiU. Shes amazing.

deja vu's dance video came out the other day. you should definitely check out dreamcatcher's choreos if you haven't yet. there is also a dance practice for breaking out already. some people like the moving/zooming qualities of dance videos, others like to see the full choreo stationary cam of dance practices. maybe you can do both to see which is your preference.

Recently they had a chance to interview with internet news magazine in London during Europe tour, and they said they might going to mix EDM with metal style. IDK how it will go but my opinion, I wish they make some pure metal style music one day :)

I loved your reaction!! Deja Vu is different partly/mainly because it's an OST for a game so parts usually are more mellow and it's very dramatic. And because it was for a game they had a much bigger budget. I personally like Breaking Out more tbh and while the mv is much simpler I love some of the symbolism (like the red thread of fate. There's some cool symbolism in Deja Vu as well, the blue roses can represent loyalty and trust and they burn in the second part and when jiu lies on the table those burning butterflies come flying up and also burning and butterflies often symbolise the human soul) Anyway you should check out their bside My Way, it's pretty much just jrock. And if you want more rock then check out some covers too! Siyeon's recent one "Overdose" as well as "Lucky Strike" and "Faded" Also their song Mayday! It's with a live band and there's a special clip

You should try listening Loona, they also have a background story called Loonaverse, they debuted first with solos and subunits and then as a group. You can start with Butterfly, Hi high and Favorite and then you can go for each girl solo and subunits. Hope you give them a try. Loved your Dreamcatcher videos.

Dreamcatcher are calling ‘Raid Of Dream‘ a special mini, likely due to the ‘King’s Raid‘ mobile game tie-in, but the teasers for “Deja Vu” also seemed to indicate they would use it to experiment a bit with the path forward for the group and they did exactly that.

On first watching I thought the song was great but it was the video that blew my mind. I thought DejaVu would end up sliding somewhere into the middle of the list of fave DC songs. But with every listen it keeps climbing and climbing and could end up contending for fave song. I always think good music should make you feel something. Be it happy, sad, mad or whatever. And then there's songs that make you feel something you can't quite describe except it feels like a swelling tornado of emotion. Those songs hold a special place in my heart. For me, Deja Vu is one of those songs. As for Dreamcatcher in general, I had Chase Me, Goodnight and You and I on a playlist for ages but for some reason never dug deeper until Piri dropped. Since then I've fallen for them hard. I see many people suggest they're one of the best female groups in Kpop music. For me there's 2 unnecessary words in that statement. Female and Kpop. In my opinion they're one of the best groups in music fullstop, regardless of sex or genre.

This track was a special one done in conjunction with a video game. But I honestly, don't think that collaboration had any affect on the music, but maybe a bit on the concept and visuals of the M/V. I would not be surprised if they are toning down the rock element to be more mainstream in Korea. The truth is, they have had a relatively large international fan base compared to their domestic Korean fan base because rock music in general is not widely popular in Korea. Unfortunately, a lot of a K-pop group's success is still tied to domestic success (winning on Korean music shows, Korean music charts and sales, etc). I don't think they would ever entirely lose their rock identity, but they are probably experimenting with how to mix mainstream appeals into it. If you look at the trend, there has been less and less rock starting with Piri.

U need to check out DreamCatcher - Mayday. It’s a special clip and they perform with a rock band. Also check out the girls rendition of Shawn Mendes There’s nothing holding me back. They turn Shawn mendes’s sound into a rock song, it was really good. Thanks for reacting and loving our girls, they are so underrated that it makes me sad. They deserve so much and more.

Plus they're doing 20 headlining shows in the States right now, including the L.A. Forum. React to Pa Pa Ya, Karate, or Road of Resistance (live in Japan). If you must stay within Kpop then do Orange Caramel's "My Copycat". They're unique and it's one of Billboard's "Top 100 Videos of the 20th Century".
