Great reaction, Dave! Dan takes us on quite a ride on this one. I never really got into Evanescence until Dan's covers. I love that about him - his versions are great, but he creates curiosity about the original artist, too, at least on the artists I didn't already know and like.

Every song that Dan does is a display of perfection. However, in this song, he shows an almost inhuman level of perfection in almost every vocal style/range a human voice is capable of singing. 33 years old but he already beats most (if not all) singers in vocal range (imo). I agree, Dan is in a league of his own!

Check out his cover of "I Want Out" by Helloween. He has two versions of it, the second one having the lead guitar done by the son of the original band's lead guitarist. I prefer the first version because you see his reaction to holding one of the notes almost forever. It really shows you just how amazingly good his voice and breath control are.

My apologies Dave, I called it a 1000 mile stare when you actually called it a 1000 yard stare. I am glad you show appreciation for his dynamic, soulful delivery of his vocals. I kinda know now when he grabs that mic 🎙️ like it’s an Apple that he’s about to take a huge bite from, that he’s about to come out with a hair-raising sound that comes from the depths of his body. But OMG that Growl!! I wasn’t prepared for that, and neither were you judging from your expression. 😁
