“Freezer” always gets a mention as a deep cut diamond 💎 That riff! The chukka chukka! The unison vocals and the back and forth…and I always mention this debut of Akane’s disco beat chorus

I'm glad I've bought all their albums. I'm sure many have but I encourage everyone to buy the hard copies and discourage streaming. The artists get a lot more money out of it and the added bonus of catching the recording industry's attention for more buzz. More sales = more buzz and more opportunities for this great band. Support Band Maid. Thank you, John, for pushing the band so much. There are several of you guys who are true fans and are doing Band Maid a great service. Best rock band on the planet.

Also, this is a band that people who really appreciate them are going to get a lot more out of a lossless format. Although even before that, just _put on the headphones_ if you haven't already. Also for Prime members, I _think_ that lately the self-covers have used the pre-mastering studio tracks without that over- compression everybody hates. Maybe it's just not having the distraction of the vocals, which have been stripped out, but suddenly one hears the extra guitar tracks and production embellishments that you didn't even know were there on the previous 100 listens. It's pretty astounding.

@@stevehall5128 I agree with that! listening to them on Spotify via Bluetooth to my work van radio is the worst posable way to listen to them. I have to (I get to😉) max the volume just to make out Kanami's guitar otherwise all I hear is Akane and Saiki. Even the difference between the CD and KZfaq is a noticeable improvement in sound quality

Yes CD's all the way (if they are available) or otherwise purchased lossless downloads; not just for BAND-MAID but for all bands I support. For often-streamed songs the individual environmental impact is also worse compared to a one-off physical purchase (for CD at least, not sure about vinyl). Streaming requires significant server and internet infrastructure to be maintained and powered (he said, commenting on a streaming platform 🤔😆)

One of my All-time favorite songs!! I am eternally grateful to Lounoir Records for their Band Maid's (almost) Greatest Hits Compilation (aka #2) vid, which I've listened to A LOT over the years. A few of the lesser known songs on it, like Freezer, Decided by Myself and Bye My Tears, have become some of my favorites. Thanks again, John, for another great reaction! 🤘🤩🤘

When I found Band-Maid four years ago, New Beginnings was the first album I listened to, mainly because it starts with Thrill. But when I listened to the second track, Freezer, I knew the Maids were legit. Freezer kicks complete hard rock butt!! A new was Maidaic born at that very moment.

I heard this played live the first time i saw them live in their first concert in Hong Kong, not the recent one and I was right in front of Kanami, it was an unforgettable experience.

"Shake That" from New Begining is similar to Freezer but for instruments. The harmonisation of guitar, drums and bass is so good. It's my favorite song.😮

Lyrics by Daria Kawashima (also known as Miki Kawashima) who also did the lyrics for Bauty and the Beast and Apply The Brake, as well as songs for other artists. Music by Atsushi Yamaguchi who also did the music for Don't Apply The Brake and Yurago. He has mamy credits as an engineer on other albums, including some by Aldious and Galneryus.

First off, I get that 'Seattle sound' vibe from this song and I love it!! I am now just getting the meaning of the song from this translation, but before I knew what it meant, I LOVED the cadence and harmonies of both Saiki and Miku! The pronunciation of the words and the timing! I could listen to this song all day, even if I didn't understand the meaning! It is a top favorite of mine!! Awesome track by the Maids! Arcadia Girl is another wicked track that I get pumped up when I hear it!!! Great video!!!

Just discovered your channel recently and have been churning through your Band Maid reactions. This is easily my favorite early Maid song and still ranks in my top 10, probably top 5. Sadly it doesn't seem to get much love, as you're honestly the first reactor I've seen do it and they don't seem to do it live pretty much ever. The chorus in particular is brilliant, with the back and forth even in the middle of lines. Maybe we can blow it up and they'll bring it stateside next go-round?

One of the many Band-Maid songs which is on every one of my various playlists. And in the top5 of 5 of them. I wish Miku and Saiki would do vocals like this more often. And the guitar solo reminds me of the solo in Unfair Game. And Unfair Game is another banger you need to check out.

Freezer has always been a banger. Kanami is the greatest composer of course ( 😁), but let's acknowledge the fact that they had some pretty good songwriters working with them early in their career. 👍

Up until about 2018-19, when they use to play all their songs exactly as recorded in the studio, I use to sync up poor quality fan videos with the album recordings and, with a little mix from the live video for ambience, playback the fan vid with perfect sound. I did that for years and still occasionally do. In the last few years they seem to go off sync on a few songs, but it still works on others. Their older songs are 🔥🔥🔥Thx, John!

I was excited to see you getting to this song. As great a song that this is, it's only been played live 4 times since 2017, last time was 2019. That's the problem when you have sooooo many songs that people wanna hear. The strength of their catalog is unworldly. I can pull 100 songs from some of my favorite bands, but only if they have 15+ albums. Band Maid can do it with only 7 albums/Ep's and a handful of singles. Funny thing is that the Maids have great songs to spare after that first 100. 🤘

The twin lead vocals pretty much went away as Kobato got more proficient on guitar. And the very end of this song is pretty much cribbed from GnR's Rocket Queen.

Letting the vocals breathe. 😂 That's the only downside of Miku's lyrics, which could be a bit wordy, but the upside of it is that you get to hear Saiki rap
