I love the way Dimash sings this song. In 2017 it won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for "Best Original Song" in the "Video Game" category. There's a "making of" video where the composer, Thomas Parisch, talks about meeting and working with Dimash. He says that originally he composed the song to cover a 3 octave range, but Dimash suggested it be extended to 3 1/2 octaves so he could add an operatic vocal. Parisch rewrote the song at Dimash's recommendation, and we hear the result.

I agree with you, the voice of our beloved Dimash is divine. This song won Hollywood music in media awards for Best Original Song in the video game category. In the honor of Dimash, a picture of him was put on a new airplane making first flight from Shanghai to Beijing. The airplane was build by special order of the owners of Moonlight blade game. His songs in Chinese are so beautiful....

FYI, Thomas Parisch, composed this song “Shiguang Canghai” which is the theme song to Moonlight Blade (2015), an exciting martial arts role playing game set in an enormous Skyrim-like ancient world. Players follow the path of one of eight clans of Wuxia heroes in a pre-Modern Chinese fantasy landscape to defeat enigmatic creatures, carry out clandestine assassinations and create magical ink paintings. “Shiguang Canghai” reached No. 2 in CCTV charts and No. 5 in the Global Chinese Golden Charts. The song won the 2017 Hollywood Music in Media Award as best song in a video game. Thomas has had a career in game music, from working on Resident Evil 6 in 2012 to writing music for mobile and online games for Chinese company Tencent Games. What Thomas had to say about working with Dimash: …”it was really fun to work with this outstanding singer. Dimash truly is a natural when it comes to musical expression and his range and control spanning several octaves are absolutely unique. I really wanted to use and showcase all this in the song. Originally I was writing for two and a half octaves, which I thought rather large already. But in the recording with his improvisation towards the climax, he pushed it beyond an unbelievable three and half octaves. To witness that live was a real treat. A fun fact about the vocal recording is that him being Kazakh, he sang in a language he is not fluent in. So he truly did a remarkable job conveying all that emotion while he had to pay special attention to his pronunciation of the Mandarin lyrics.” 🙏🏻🇦🇺

Absolutely love this song, so many of the songs in Mandarin have a completely different feel to them, maybe it’s the delicate tone and melody. Thank you so much for this, it's one of my favourites. It won the American Music Awards for best video game OST and there's very sweet clips of Dimash getting starstruck as he arrives for the award ceremony. The composer thought he was already pushing the limits of vocal ability when he wrote the song but in the recording Dimash pushed it further and it ended up sounding epic. I'd love to see you react to Battle of Memories, it's a movie OST that sounds so much like a James Bond Theme song it will make you wonder why the American movie industry hasn't snapped him up yet.

Love this song too, another song you should consider checking is The Meaning of Eternity. It’s a very short song but it will gives you goosebumps. It is still one of my favorite to this day.❤

Sadly Dimash has only ever sung this once ‘live’ which was at the launch of the video game at the palace at the Great Wall of China (it was very cold and you could see his breath when he was singing)! Another fun fact: Dimash’s image was put on the side of a plane to promote this game! Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

Loved your reaction, John! Thank you for choosing one of the most beautiful songs that Dimash did in China. “Battle of Memories” is another favorite one (sounds like for a James Bond movie). “The Meaning of Eternity” has very deep lyrics and showcases his crystalline voice.

I saw some footage where they were trying to get that paper boat to stay upright, lol. All the technology needed for the game and Dimash’s amazing singing, and a simple paper boat was a problem!
