I was fortunate enough to catch both Nemophila in the Spring and Hanabie in September this year in NYC at the Gramercy Theatre. Two mind bending shows with Band-Maid & Baby Metal sandwiched in there in August followed up by AG a few weeks ago. It's Been a good year for shows.

oh wow that is a good year for shows. I live in KC so not as much comes through here. Had to travel to Dallas just to see Nemophila. Love to see Hanabie too but finances just were not there. Saving up for next year to see Nemophila again if they come to states. Making it out to Japan to see them would be amazing but that is just a pipe dream for now. unless i win a lottery or something haha.

@@kawliga4845 Awe, Dude if you ever have the chance to catch Hanabie, do so. I'm a Band-Maid to the bone kinda guy and went as a casual J-Rock Fan to Hanabie and came out a True believer. There are some great KZfaq fancam videos of the their tour. I'm particular to 2 of them from the NYC show where Yukina Crowd Surfs mid song. 1 is POV and feels exactly like you're in the crowd (I know because I recognize from the view he was between 5-10 feet from where I was and Yukina surfs right over him.) The other is a wide angle from the balcony both are fire and easy to find, just type in Hanabie NYC, and there are some other cool shows where they come out and perform with the opening acts, so cool on their part. Just a heads up this weekend Band-Maid is Live Streaming the finale of their 10 Year Anniversary Tour at Yokohama Arena, their Largest show ever. Virtual Tickets are available at the Official Band-Maid Web site. Just Sayin'!

@@JohnReavesLive The concert was at Zepp Nagoya. There was a Typhoon blowing outside the venue and a freaking metal Typhoon booming inside. The double bass drums and the bass guitar made my internals move they were that loud. The premier part of the concert though was when Mayu and Yukina both sang (screamed) Nemophila's song Zen, together. Unfortunately I couldn't film anything. That was the holy grail moment that I hope someday they will do again because that magic needs to be shared. Im lucky enough to be seeing Hanabie live in Melbourne Australia in 4 days time for their first solo performance in Australia. They arent well known here but the place got sold out so thats a good thing. Then they play a festival on Dec 1,2,3 plus they are supporting Limp Bizcut.

Nemophila is fantastic. When the song was recorded it was closer to pandemic times, and a lot was recorded in home studios. The drum solo wasn't intended, but Tamu was feeling it, and added it in her recording, expecting it to be cut. She was very happy it was included in the final mix.

So cool you got to see them in Japan. I got to see them here in states back in March and they blew the roof off. Night Flight is one of their few poppy songs. It is a fun song they did years back and finally made a video for the fans. It is a fan fav in concert at times to break up the mad heaviness they usually play. If you have seen them live now you know how heavy they are. But like I said these ladies are mostly metal. With some hard rock and even just good ol rock song and pop here an there. Some of their heavy ones which Im sure you heard live is Zen,Oiran,Dissension, Revive and Rise and Adabana. Third album coming out in January too cant wait. Hypnosis is and awesome song and actually a little lighter than some of their other heavyones but with that great heavy chuggy sound. But yes for sure you should check more of them out. they are very diverse. You can hear all the metal influences from 70s all the way through the 2000s especially 90s and early 2000metal. But happy you have become a fan and cant wait to see more your reactions to them.

Seems to be a recurring theme with these female JMetal bands having outstanding drummers: Harunna, Akane, and Tamu. Every one of them absolute machines!! Just discovered these three bands over the last few months and they have become three of my all time favorite bands. For a point of reference I'm 53, and been metal since I was 12. Actually 2023 has been the year of music for me started with Ren, then The Warning, Lovebites, Band Maid and now Nemophila. Outstanding year for music!!

Oh.brother welcome! I’m around 60 and have been listening to Japanese Rock/Metal for only a few years. I definitely grew up with the rock/metal music from the late 60’s - early 20’s. Regardless, their original songs are (far, far, better than their covers; but covers still great). I wish I had the words to describe how talented this band is. The only problem with Nemophila is their covers are normally better than the originals. normally performs the covers better than the greatest bands they are covering.

Yes the shredders get all the attention, but where Japan has the biggest edge, regardless of gender, is their bassists and drummers. Other drummers who are scary good are Senri (more jazz and fusion), Mizuki (currently with East of Eden), both of the Aldious drummers (Marina and Aruto), Natsumi (Bridear) and the token dude on the list, Fumiya (Unlucky Morpheus). These are just a few of them, but you get the idea.

I've noticed with great interest how most of your reactions are towards bands from the East, especially from Japan as far as rock is concerned, this makes me very happy, and I would like to recommend you a Japanese singer-songwriter called REI, Rei is a lead singer, songwriter and guitarist born in Itami-shi, Hyogo prefecture, Japan, she lived briefly in France as a child but spent her entire childhood in New York, where she learned to play classical guitar at the age of four and learned the fundamentals of blues at the age of five, blues that profoundly marked her playing and music making, Back in Japan she discovered the great potential she had with Japanese rock and pop music, so her incredible talent led her to fuse what she brought with her from NYC and what Japan gave her, the result? A high level music that is never the same and always very centred, one of her really fantastic tracks is called " BLACK BANANA " also because a live performance of it and it is simply extraordinary, thank you if you will take this into account for a future reaction of yours, I apologise for the length of the comment.

Those aren't the actual lyrics coming from the CC. With the Japanese language, there are no direct word-to-word translations with the English language like there is with French, German, Spanish, etc. It's why you'll sometimes see bizarre, strange, or sometimes just an awkward phrase pop up in the CC when you're watching a Japanese tsunami disaster video or a music video. The Japanese language is a more a series of sounds and phrases, with the best and quickest advice is that EVERY vowel = a syllable HAN-A-BI-E (WTF! "iine"). When they sing lyrics in English, they are doing it phonetically. They aren't saying actual words, just what those words sound like, which is why a lot of "of's" and "the's" disappear when they are singing. Phonetics (Hooked On Phonics, lol) is also how so many Japanese people sing the lyrics to English speaking bands when they tour Japan, instead of doing what a lot of my fellow countrymen do which is to ask Japanese bands to sing their songs in English when they are touring AMERICA. That's a total jerk move and very embarrassing. I made the effort to find a Japanese professor who is also a Metal head to explain the lyrics to me. You want an INTERPRETATION, not a TRANSLATION.
