This was definitely an emotional song. As you said he has helped so many of us and it’s hard to say goodbye for a while. The I love you at the end was what got me to burst into tears. Just as he taught the young girl in the video to ride her bike. Jin has helped teach all of us to love ourselves. He’s given us the tools to get by until he gets back. We will miss him and be waiting here for when he comes back 💜

Jin has been my bias from the moment I laid eyes on him on May 1st of 2016 when the FIRE MV dropped at midnight. It was my first ever Kpop video and I watched it with my then 16 yr old daughter just to make her happy. Little did I know that I would fall so deeply in love with 7 boys from Korea! Thank you for opening up to us and sharing your story. BTS, and Jin in particular, were the hands that pulled me out of the deepest, darkest pit of depression. It's been 6 1/2 long, wonderful, healing years of learning to love myself and finally accepting the fact that I deserve to be loved. This is up there in songs that hit all the emotions. I’ve never seen people who write directly to fans like BTS does breaking the 4th wall to say they love us. I have cried so many tears over this song it’s beautiful and also about how BTS wants to leave us with a safety helmet but send us off alone but will be be coming back to us. I think as they are growing and going to do their service we should love ourselves and learn from them. I am so glad you learned from Jin. I think most of us struggle with self image and learning to love and appreciate we are precious. You are all worthy. But I think change and growing and also fulfilling social responsibility are all things they can teach us. So as much as I wish they didn’t have to take this break it’s so very health and they are doing it on their terms not under control of the govt they are truly amazing examples we all have about 2 years to be the “Army” BTS deserves and inspired by working on ourselves and the world around us, getting on the bike they taught us to ride, putting in the helmet they made for us and riding to meet them. Lawsy I do dearly love them and this fandom.

I have ptsd, panic disorder, very bad social anxiety, everything you were talking about I resonate with so hard, and epiphany stopped me in my tracks, I felt that song so deep, hearing this song makes me feel just as deep in a different way, I wish for him and all the members to be safe once they enlist, things are scary with N Korea right now, and I hope they know how loved they are, and that their fans will always be waiting for them.

Omg John, I started crying again when I saw that you're teary-eyed. I can feel you. This song really got us all emotional esp that Jin wrote it with Chris with the purpose of really dedicating it to Army. I'm not good at making MV theories but I've seen a lot of stories. One is that the little girl can represent Army. Jin met Army and found home in us. But then he needed to go, that's when he prepared the little girl teaching her to bike on her own and giving her his helmet so she won't get hurt 🥺 But he chose to stay and did not go with the space ship. Then at the end of the video, he smiled when he heard that bell from the bike of the little girl, meaning Army is still waiting for him outside his house 😭🤧💜 It's so beautiful. I can't take it when I hear him sing "I love you". Don't want to sound corny but it really pierces right thru my heart. I also struggle with body dysmorphia, depression, and other chronic conditions that have made life in general more difficult. The first time I heard epiphany was a turning point for me.. it’s such a special song that I now listen to every day to remind myself to love myself. The tone of his voice is so different here in this song, so much deeper and warmer than in the past. This is going to sound strange but just go with me on this and tell me if you get it....this song is like the first true sip of the perfect morning coffee. Like wrapping yourself in your favorite blanket right after you get it out of the dryer. Just perfectly warm and comforting. Is that strange? I couldn't imagine something better as a send off. I'm very proud of BTS. I've said before and it is still true, I feel like this proud parent when it comes to BTS. I've watched them grow from boys to men and I just don't think I could be more proud of where they have been and where they are going. I love this song. This is second to Epiphany for me. Jin has a way of just so effortlessly pulling at the heartstrings. Between “Moon” and “The Astronaut” and all the love he poured into those songs for ARMYs, we have 2 very priceless gifts from him.

There are so many hidden meanings in Jin's The Astronaut MV - some I was able to recognize by myself, others with the help from other fellow ARMYs. For examples, the guitar near the telescope, that is the guitar that Chris Martin gave to Jin when they collaborated on "My Universe" with BTS. The child's drawing of a boy with the word 'Jin' on top, that refers to photo of Jin as a child and he was wearing a suite pretty similar to the one seen in the drawing. On the side of Jin's neck, there's braille alphabets spelling "ARMY". The crosswords he played in the MV include these words: ARMY, Astronaut, Star, Moon (one of Jin's solo songs), Cozy, and Family. The black spaces in the crosswords also Braille for "For ARMY". And message in boxes next to the crosswords say, " 'The planet' is coming back soon" and "Once more to the moon!" These refer to ARMY and Jin's promise that he'll be back. In the room you could see Coldplay's posters and there's a debate whether the news anchor on the TV was actually Chris Martin or his lookalike. Items in the room also represent BTS members: the guitar = SUGA, books at the foot of the bed = RM, snow globe on the table by the window = Jimin, vinyl records = V, speaker = Jungkook, and the solar system mobile = ARMY.

I started tearing up the moment he took out his helmet and put it on the little girl…to me it was kinda like “stay safe army, till we meet again” 🥺💜

I love BTS, I am a V bias, but love all of them. Jin's song is just so beautiful!! I was bawling a third of the way through it!! For me Jin is the epitome of a gentle man. He can be silly & loud but also soft quiet wise comforting & true. Yes he is WWH but he is actually humble & gracious. He became the big brother of the other 6 & did so with gentleness & love. I get heaven to myself when im with you....please....he knows exactly what hes doing. Everything about this video has such deeper meaning. Just my take on it is the spaceship represents him leaving but at the end when he turns his back to it and faces us means he will be thinking of us the whole time and that army is his true home and love. The little girls represent army as well and probably to some extent his youth. Maybe hes looking back on his youth as he departs to this next stage of his life. Not sure if anyone has already mentioned it here, but if you look at the the word puzzle that Jin was solving, the black area (not the white square parts that you put in words) actually spells "For Army" in braille. I got chills when I heard of this. Also, if you do close up of Jin's neck when he is on the back of the truck, the braille that spells "army" is tattooed on his neck.
