That's one of my top five desired knives - Congrats on the score! I agree with some other comments, it has a bit of a Terzuola style - which I love. Unfortunately my fancy knife budget is fully depleted now that I have my S45VN Demko AD20S Sharkfoot from DLT - I threw a pair of OG raw aluminum textured scales around some Skiff bearings and it is now my all-time favorite, carry it until my last breath, EDC knife. Going with OG scales saved me a bunch over the Ti factory variant. Has a iced/frosted look that I am a big fan of! (So, I don't feel so bad missing out on these...)

I never even noticed, but my AT-C in terravantium does not have a lock bar insert. But also, what took you so long? I literally have six of these (in different configurations) yes I’m obsessed. Terrain 365 stuff seems to become available much more often, in my experience, than PDW knives. PDW stuff tends to sell out in about 5 minutes, so I’ve learned to pay attention to their Instagram and email newsletters

The lockbar insert on these isn't steel either. I'm not sure if it's titanium or dendritic cobalt, but according to the magnet test, it's at least not steel. I had the same realization when I opened mine up tho.. I think a lot of retailers just used the original product pictures from the last batch which definitely did not have inserts. I've been carrying mine nearly exclusively for about a month now, and can confirm the egde retention is very good. On par with 58-59 hrc s30v in my opinion. Mostly cutting tape, plastic, and cardboard, with the occasional steak. Also worth mentioning, I've swam in the ocean probably a half dozen times with it and never even rinsed it out. Not a speck of corosion. Not even discoloration anywhere! Absolutely awesome knife.

These aren't available regularly lol. I've been checking the manufacturers website every other week for months with "out of stock" being the name of the game. The people who hunted them know.

@jonathanwatson268
@jonathanwatson268 Жыл бұрын
@@Muscovy7 MagnaCut is one of the few steels that has never rusted in my VERY sweaty pockets at work in the summer. And that's one of the biggest reasons I was excited about it when it came out. Here's a quote from Dr. Larrin Thomas himself. "The biggest surprise in testing of MagnaCut was how good its corrosion resistance is. It was expected to have corrosion resistance in between S35VN and S45VN, “good” or even “great” but not spectacular. However, the corrosion resistance ended up being even better than 20CV and just under stellar steels like Vanax or LC200N."
@jonathanwatson268
@jonathanwatson268 Жыл бұрын
@@Muscovy7 you were probably remebering edge retention specs which he does say is around S35VN-S45VN. I am really happy that magnacut is inexpensive to produce and becoming widely available on affordable knives. Even though in his testing it did rust slightly, I haven't had any rust yet and I routinely rust 20CV/M390 in the pocket from sweat.

This was great about 15-20 years ago when LC200N and H1 wasn't developed yet. These 2 steels are superior to it in every single way except the magnetic part. Also, that "holding an extremely sharp edge for a long time" is just marketing. These cobalt materials are good at toothy edges (due to low hardness but high carbide volume) and can get a relatively ok working sharpness. You put anything fine and hair whittling sharp on them (if the edge even has the strength to support that), they're blunt pretty fast. I never had one btw, I'm just regurgitating what some pretty respectable people stated on a diving forum.

Terrain 365 had these for sale for well over a week on their website. Are you certain they are made in the USA? I've seen other claim they use an OEM, and they don't divulge who they use. As far as toughness...I cut through some stuff and hit the edge pretty hard on a quartz counter top. It did not chip, it did roll some, but I got 90% of it fixed up with very little effort on a honing rod. So, its probably pretty tough. Also, how about how they do that pocket clip to get a milled clip deep carry? That's pretty freaking cool!

It was/is plenty tough even a HRc 78 or whatever, it dropped 3' onto tile without an issue. It's good stuff but any sharpening needs to go back to like 60grit and carefully angled correctly.
