I’ve carried a small 21 Insingo for 5 years, beat the shit out of it working in a machine shop and also have used it in the East and western states hunting, field dressing game. I’ve only ever tore it down to clean and oil 3 or 4 times, and it still locks up like a bank vault, with zero blade play. The Sebenza truly is one of those items that a man will never understand until he owns one. The hype is real.

I daily carry and use my large Sebenza 21 with the Ladder Damascus for almost 6 years and it still rocks. I mean the Damascus CRK ones are nore likely to be seen as fragile since that blade is so good looking but from my use, they are epic! Edge retention as good or even better as my S30V on the PM2 and lately I noticed that they are even easier to sharpen than my S30V. Devin Thomas knew what he was doing 👍 Great videos man.

My grail knife right here. I’m tempted by the micarta scales, especially since they aren’t split scales anymore, but there’s something beautifully pure about the standard model (also the markup for scales is noticeable). I’ve always loved the Sebenza’s beautiful lines, and it’s nice to finally see it upgraded with the Inkosi’s improvements (especially the ceramic ball upgrade and offset pocket clip). The one thing I’d change is to switch the single thumb stud for the Inkosi’s dual thunb studs (apparently a quick, easy, and fairly cheap change). Also have to agree with you about CRKs maintenance policy. I love that they say if you take it apart, then can’t put it together, just put it in a bag and send it too us so we can put it back together for you. That’s just awesome, especially when so brands use disassembly as an excuse to void a warranty (even if the issue is unrelated to you disassembling the knife).

@@gpearce11 The first Chris Reeve knife that I actually picked up was the small Inkosi which I couldn’t believe I’d spend that much money on a knife. Now I have my fifth Chris reeve knife coming in. Which is a large sabenza 31. The crazy part is as I already have a large sabenza 31. The only reason I bought the second one is because I had a Greg Medford slim praetorian TI in tumbled bronze titanium. Was not really happy with it it’s a great knife but it ergonomically Was not very comfortable and the lock up was a little uncomfortable to disengage. So I ended up selling it and buying a 31. The reasoning the 31 is just perfect I have two small 31 models a plane and a black inlaid Micarta model. I have to say the last one I really want to get is a large inkosi… which surprisingly has been the hardest one to find. Now you’re probably wondering how could I even justify spending that much money on this many Chris reeve knives. Well my profession is a Watchmaker and sometimes I do repairs on the side other than my full-time job. And sometimes I am able to use that money I make from those jobs to spend on my hobbies in the past four months that’s what I’ve decided to do. I decided this is where I want my collection to go I want to be nothing but quality in something that I’ll have in 25 years that will be fantastic and reliable. It’s either that or a KA - BAR Dozier.. which is truly my beater knife. I use my Chris reeve knives like I would use the Dozier but I have to say they can be quite the gym to have an a collection. But after you’ve handled one you get why they’re fantastic. I do truly wish that I could get a large 21 to experience that for myself but they’re getting very expensive now. I think you should really try to get one. The way I figured it is let’s say you put away $50 every two months you would then be able to afford that by the end of the year.

My large 31 has micarta inlays, is left-handed and is an absolutely solid work knife. Mind you, when my wife wanted to borrow a knife for muddy, tree planting duty, I gave her a Medford On Belay! I’ve the small pj as well, but it’s too plain for me. The screws are hex in 3/64”, which is why it’s really lucky they come in the box. Decent Imperial hex keys are hard to find.

the umnum is the way to go. more options on the way you can hold the blade to get different control on cuts, the umnum has a simpler construction, its easier on your thumbs, and it has the rubber stoppers when you open and close it so you can fidget with it and your wife won't want to strangle you.
@nathanmassell8176

I agree with MC, you can't go wrong with any CRK. I have all the above in the replies to your question, and the real question is what will u be using the knife for? That will be the determining factor for what you should get. If u want a tacticool knife, then go with the Umnumzaan. The other nice thing about the Umnumzaan is it has a glass breaker, and can be handy for a paramedic like myself. I would personally go with a Sebenza 21, or 31...they are so elegant, and just about perfect in every way.

S35VN is certainly not the toughest stainless steel out there. CPM-154, 14C28N, AEB-L, and Nitro-V are among the toughest stainless steels. Elmax is also likely tougher than S35VN. This is, of course, assuming they are hardened to typical HRC ranges for each steel. From the data I've seen, M390 and S35VN have similar toughness.
@metal_complex
@metal_complex 4 жыл бұрын
I've always read that S35VN was substantially tougher than M390. I suppose I should word what I meant differently. "Of all the stainless steels, I've always assumed S35VN had the best ratio of toughness and corrosion resistance" but I could also be wrong about that. I suppose it's not all that important in any case.

They effed up in the 25. It has a stop pin with a flat side but can rotate. If the flat side rotates a bit, the pin blocks the blade so you can’t open or close. What were they thinking? It’s a major blunder because Chris had already left the company. I’ve had it eight years of and use red loctite so it worked out, but it could someday fail. Should I trust the new people again? Well, the 25 is holding up so I don’t need to.
