The thing I love the most about Amon Amarth is that they are just pure fucking metal. They arent trying to be the most evil metal band and start a big religious hate train in every music video and song. They are just playing sick riffs and singing about badass vikings and battle. Not whining about how religion is stupid constantly

I saw Amon Amarth for the first time at Knotfest in Australia last week. They were incredible. There is a meme that say all Metal heads are angry, yet for their whole performance Johan had the biggest, warmest smile on his face. You could see he was genuinely feeling the love and energy from the crowd. Forever a fan now!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Just saw these guys at Knotfest for the very first time. Never heard of them before that, and holy hell did they steal the show. The winds were blowing strong in San Bernandino, people were rushing the poorly set up gates to reach the general admission pit area while being tackled by security, some people escaped and got lost in the crowd, and there was 3 fires burning on the lawn area with moshers circling the flames. It was the most metal thing I have ever seen.

The vocalist is seriously under-rated. His vocals are incredibly resonant and "pitched." When I listened to the whole album I realized how good he really is. He writes GREAT lyrics of epic tales and his vocal performance is spot on. Great performance! Great story teller!

+Chandler Dodson Well Slaves of Fear is actually a song done about the evil injustices done in the name of Religions. More spefically about the Abrahamic Religion. I.E "I condemn all preachers to hang from Odens Tree" (Meaning to gather Wisdom, and realize what they're doing is wrong.) White Trash Hero Johan doesn't like it being called Viking Metal, and has expressed it in interviews. Amon Amarth is Death Metal/Melodic Death Metal not Viking metal. Viking Metal is a subgenre of Black Metal.

Josh Franklin ...Dou you know bands Ancient Rites, Enslaved, Viking Crown or Bathory (for exemple)?? They are viking/black metal (melodic, progressive, atmospheric and 1st wave BM). BTW, folk metal has origins in black metal and both can be viking metal (and also melodic death metal and power metal). Also JacknBlade wrote above that viking metal is black metal and I specified it. And what about war metal? It is sub-subgenre of black metal by lyrics and ALSO instrumentally BM, that's why war metal isn't whatever metal with war lyrics.

I think I figured out Amon Amarth's secret to awesomeness! Johan was found in a frozen viking ship on its way back to Sweden, so he was thawed and heard some metal said "That's what Oden would play for Thor in his viking ship crib," and immediately joined the closest band he could find... this is factually accurate!

This was the first Amon Amarth song I ever heard and my first introduction to death metal. I remember getting the chills down my spine at Johan's opening growl. Holy crap. What a song. One of my all time favorites!

Amon Amarth is just pure, simple, death metal with a lot of viking on top of it. Their music always gets me pumped up, but in a good way, like in a go conquer the world, do something amazing kind of way. If you read their lyrics, there is some pretty interesting norse mythology in there, too.

I prefer Punk Rock, very obviously; but the Metal, Melodic Death Metal, in particular, that I've listened to, I've loved. - This all thanks to Metalocalypse. ;) On average, Melodic Death Metal is beautiful. ...So yeah, I do. I do listen to it. Occasionally. This song is unbelievably good, by the way. My cousin just showed me it a few days ago, on Sunday.
