My bro just said that he don’t like clean vocals in metal music and he is vibing to the most popish track of this album (1x1) 😂

Don’t expect anything from BMTH, their entire MO is making people have absolutely no idea what their next song/album will sound like. You might get deathcore, or metalcore, or hyper pop, or popcore, or something totally abstract. That’s the entire point, BMTH just does whatever the fuck they want, and doesn’t classify themselves as any 1 genre

which is what /really/ pisses the haters off - and I imagine the band proper love that! I was not a lover of the last album, but it is their music - like u say, they can do exactly what they want. This album is a bit of a banger.

Kingslayer wasn’t a single, but more or less an instant fan favourite, and the two bands had met a few times at festivals in years before so they had an established connection. It’s interesting how you mentioned being turned off by the “poppy” elements before going in, but ended up really loving Ludens and 1x1! Oli has been pretty open that the band’s current biggest influence on their new direction is Linkin Park, for me that was really obvious heading “Teadrops” too. But yeah, the next album coming soon will actually continue the “Post Human” series, so they’re all meant to be mixtapes of sorts, each exploring different sounds! The singles lately have been insane, and ironically enough the heaviest collabs have been with non-metal artists, like with Yungblud here (who used to be a sort of Soundcloud emo-rapper but is more of a new wave rock/knockoff Arctic Monkeys sorta guy nowadays, to answer your question!). Nova Twins are a rock/metal duo from England, one girl plays bass and the other guitar and have a weird sort of RATM/Rnb/Nu Metal/electronic thing going on and it’s amazing!

fun fact about Ludens is that they were asked to make the song for the game, only problem being that the deadline was 5 days later while they were on tour and a member was absent due to having a child. So they build freaking booths in their hotel rooms and got to work. also the last song was with Amy Lee, the singer of Evanescence

A couple of their new songs like kool aid and amen describe what you’re looking for where they are like these with all the cool production and structure but they are heavier in places! Also so cool how kojima contacted them about death stranding on short notice while they were on tour so they had had to write, record and produce ludens out of their hotel rooms in 5 days Edit: code mistake with corpse is also heavy as fuck but its a little more formulaic than the other two I suggested, there’s more surprises in those

You cannot evaluate this band by 1 album. They never sound the same. And i mean at all. Sempiternal is great. But I think there is a hell is more your thing. Its much heavier with electronic elements and spooky choirs. Alot of deep growls. And scteams. Soynds like a different band. But Sempiternal is still pretty heavy. Metal core. Theres is a hell is coming away from deathcore into metalcore. They've done pure deathcore and way more pop than survival horror. Like super radio friendly stuff. And their new new stuff is a mixture of alk their styles in 1. You'd love the production of the songs kool-aid and AmEN. Crazy stuff

“Butterflies” features Amy Lee of Evanescence. Her part is from the perspective of Mother Earth, talking about how mankind (Oli) has taken advantage of her and destroyed her past the point of no return. The butterflies represent a world completely devoid of natural life, to the point that the only remaining butterflies would be metaphorical. Really dark, haunting song.

When they released their first EP, it was "They Have No Reflections" & "Traitors Never Play Hangman" that were literally the only reasons i fell in love with them in the first place back in high school. They evolved so effortlessly tho and watching them from the literal beginning of their musical endeavors is pretty rad now. They had a shit ton of bands trying to sound like them. 😂 Fun Fact: On their first US tour, I was able to get them to come to my home town on an off day and open up for Job For a Cowboy. This was back in the very early days of Myspace when it was very easy to get in touch with artists still. Those were the heydays of the internet imo.

The poppy song youre talking about probably came from AMO thats the pop album The post human is more of a Nu Metal EP and also fun fact they created "Ludens" in 4 days in a hotel room.

BMTH is a really versatile band. When people complain about the direction of their music, I simply remind them of the bands growth. Playing to a crowd of 50 is different than selling out arena's, and they're only capable of selling out arena's because they've become more accessible. Technically speaking, Lorna Shore is pop now. Pop is what's popular in general. It's not a genre

This was largely my take coming back to the band for this EP. I was really craving those heavy moments but they just do the poppy sound so masterfully you can't really fault it. Ended up spinning this EP a TON and liking the new album a lot too. Would love to see you give AmEn or Kool Aid a try from their new album.

So what I will say is, if you ever end up listening to amo at any point then this album will be like a breath of fresh air for those who are into their more heavy sided stuff. Mainly because the album before this (amo) was pretty much a pop album with some rock elements. And Olly wasn't really doing any harsh vocals for a while.

The final song is with Amy Lee from evanescence. It's about mother nature and humanity and how mother nature (Amy Lee) is warning us that we're running out of time to rescue this planet. When you hear it again it's truly haunting.

Sleep token, bmth and bad omens, "metal"-bands finally reviving the scene. It's been so boring since fkn 07, now it's fun again. FINALLY. In their song heavy metal they sing: "'Cause a kid on the 'gram in a Black Dahlia tank Says it ain't heavy metal Yeah, I keep picking petals I'm afraid you don't love me anymore 'Cause some kid on the 'gram say he used to be a fan But this shit ain't heavy metal" Imagine how many of these old bands have WANTED to do something different but have been scared to be viewed as soft. Especially back then when anything less than Suicide Silence and Carnifex was "gay", scene, emo or GIRL-metal. Holy muffin we had to listen to my chemical romance IN SECRET because they were deemed too soft. Times were strange. Maybe bmth dared venture out because they were deemed too soft even back in the count your blessings-era.

ALL OF EM! ALL they do is ❤️‍🔥 it's merely a matter of your mind, pay it no attention, let it ROAM into other realms of genre fluidity n fuckery! I would love, love, love AND enjoy, definitely appreaciate hearing your reaction to their entire discography, starring with CYB (Pray 4 Plagues plz) then they honestly just get better, different and mind blowingly fun, amazing and healing. I'm SURE that I speak for most, if not all, of BMTH 's fans out there, when I say DO IT PLEASE! yes, that rabbit hole IS SUPREME TIER TERRITORY. And that was Amy Lee of Evanescence singing the butterflys song with Oli. You DO know who she is, right? Read up on how that collab came about, so cool! ❤️ Sempiternal is every fan and most metalcore lover's fave album, it changed the actual trajectory of music IMMEDIATELY and sempiternally fr. Oli directed all the videos you watched, Teardrops has an actul elephant trumpeting at the end of it, and before Oli gets pulled out the water(his misery) if you look real close, you can see someone place a black crown onto his head. That's STILL not universally known, as even I had seen the video and someone had to point it out, it's so quick. Oh and Ludens was written, recorded and produced in 5-7 days in hotel rooms while the band was oversees on tour, for Death Stranding creator HK. Parasite Eve was written before Covid and was about that Video game, until Oli recognized it was eerily similar and released it during lockdown. The ENTIRE EP was made remotely online over Zoom or FaceTime with band members at their own homes because lockdown. It was a surprise release in fact. No fan knew it. I found the band right before pandenic hit thru Ludens video on KZfaq while I was watching reaction channels. Cool beans. I'm rambling, but just pretty please? React bruv🎉

There is no other album they're just spamming singles. It's coming soon though. Yeah I would definitely recommend Sepeternal as well... And the one after.. that's the spirit... Amo might be tough to digest. Music to listen to was like a Jordan pet project... Probably not worth listening to I don't know. You know if you seek them for nonmetal stuff Amo might actually be better for you 😊 it definitely is a lot more risky musically just because it doesn't sound like anything that they should be doing or have been doing which I think aligns closely to one by one and teardrops...much more than the intro track and kingslayer and parasite Eve I feel like the album before that was a little bit more of a blend and then going back to sepeternal that one was like the first step in the threshold of pop metal They really are an iterative trip every time they release an album it's a completely like different generation of their sound
