I realize it's their early work but Doki Doki morning has much of the DNA that would fuel them later. I also love their early videos. I think as an album, there most recent is their best from a musical perspective. It really shows off their musical range. This may not be a popular opinion, and I realize there is no music video for it to react too, but Oh! Majinai is one of my favorite songs on the Album.

The title of this song is an homage and play on words to Metallica's "St. Anger". The girls are basically saying they want to hurt crappy guys that make them mad with their horrible selfish ways. "I will knock your ill-nature into shape. I will burn down everything with flare of anger." BLACK BABYMETAL songs are the heaviest of all the BABYMETAL songs, and in my opinion, this song is the heaviest and most lyrically aggressive so far. Even their choreography is aggressive with its kicks, punches, and angry looking moves.

E MB : Thanks for your explanation from Japan 有難う💛。 You are correct. The words used in this lyrics are harsh, aggravating and brutal. But the combination of such overstated aggressiveness and their facial expression (overly serious and a little smile) indicates they are trying to encourage boys and inflame their guts. That is why the guys at the venue shout to the girls' moves, smilingly and happily. I love their cute sideward kicks which seemingly do not hurt anyone. And the scene at 07:36 in this video where Yui & Moa spread their arms and shrug their shoulders a little bit saying "what shall I do ? (to your begging forgiveness)" is lovely.

@@MadAng66 - the big show in the video is tokyo dome. that is a great big production concert. the other one is five fox festival. five fox festival was 5 shows over two weekends with different rules. one had all girls and one was all guys. they were really cool little small stage shows. On the babymetal reddit there is a spreadsheet with a list of every pro shot concert and links to them. I've seen most of them. They're even quite a bit better than what you would expect from the youtube videos. They don't really represent the quality.

These Black Babymetal performances are so great, and it's really nice to see Moa and Yui go out and kick some ass on their own. You mentioned how this is empowering to girls, and that's very on the nose. Babymetal was formed to give girls a metal band they could look up to, and a lot of the songs are aimed towards girls. This song is actually about how annoying boys who try to act "cool" are, and how they want nothing to do with them. We have to cherish these performances because there likely won't be any more Black Babymetal performances in the future since Yui is no longer with the band, so this great duo is no more. Maybe if they ever decide to add a permanent third member they might revive BBM, but it seems unlikely. Regarding the choreography, their main choreographer is a woman named Mikiko Mizuno or Mikikometal, who also works with several Japanese J-Pop bands, and most notably did the choreo for the closing ceremony for the 2016 Olympics. Anyways, loved the reaction, take care man.

Good reaction as always. Apart from the mainly instrumental tracks this is probably BABYMETAL's heaviest - so of course it had to have Yui and Moa with their young voices as a contrast - and it seems some of the language they used is a lot stronger than is the norm for BABYMETAL (although most translations have watered that down significantly).

💀 💕 / 🔥 😡 😡 🔥 Yes, the littlest members get the heaviest songs. : ) BABYMETAL are big fans of Metallica, so the 'St. Anger' reference is pretty clear. The song is about being angry, mostly at dumb boys. Looks like much of that video was from the Tokyo Dome concert (Black Night) in front of 55,000 people, with some footage from other concerts.

I like your argument about being a woman in entertainment indusry especially in metal scene. They broke the “Sex Symbols” word for becoming a frontwoman in metal band. Koba Metal, creator of BabyMetal is a huge X-Japan and Metallica fan. Metallica said " That’s what ‘St Anger’ really means to me: being able to express anger in a healthy way, instead of just shutting up and being intimidating and then raging out on someone when it all builds up." It is commonly regard as a homage to Metallica's St Anger. So it can be interpret as girl fed up with her loved one or against a random guy doing inappropriate things. Releasing her emotions. Some fans wonder why (Amuse let) BLACK BABYMETAL sing these somewhat offensive lyrics. Yet Moa Metal said like "I hope 'Sis. Anger' would encourage many people." and Yui Metal said like "This song made me stand up straight when I sang it, so I hope it can motivate the listeners even a little". du-metal.blogspot.com/2016/04/sis-anger.html (More accurate translation here) There are two songs recorded by Black Babymetal, a duo comprised of Yuimetal and Moametal. First, could you tell us about the song "Sis. Anger"? Moametal: "Sis. Anger" is such a fun song. [Laughs] We couldn't stop laughing during our studio recording. The genre of this song is black metal, and its lyrics contain black humor. I think the song was born only because of Black Babymetal. Its lyrics are scary, but if you listen to the song, it makes you laugh and get energized. How about another Black Babymetal song, "GJ!"? Yuimetal: It's a reward song and sounds cuter than "Sis. Anger." Personally, I get motivated by listening to "Sis. Anger" and tell myself, "OK, I did a good job." I hope our audience listen to these two songs in sequence. www.billboard.com/articles/news/7318798/babymetal-world-tour-metal-resistance-album-ariana-grande-interview

I could not agree more with what you said starting at 6:01. I have said exactly the same thing. BABYMETAL projects so much power (while still always remaining respectful) and their values of fighting for and standing up for what you believe in and not backing down makes them such great role models. Women don't need to be sexy to be powerful.

Don't know if it has been said yet, but the set doesn't rotate. They were sorta playing in the round there. Most of the clips from this came from their show(s) at Tokyo Dome. It is one of the biggest venues in the world, and the biggest baseball field/stadium in the world. Including floor level, the place seats 55,000 people. Babymetal played 2 nights there, and sold out each night. So in two nights, they played to 110,000 people. This song, and Tales of the Destinies were the first night (and it was the only time that they ever played Tales of the Destinies live). If you can find that full song (it segues into The One), definitely react to it. I won't spoil it, as it's worth it. Odds are you will not find it on KZfaq, so Vimeo or DailyMotion may be your only options to finding it.

The huge stage with the walkways and the round LED wall above was their Tokyo Dome shows, back-to-back 55k people in 2016. There's also some footage from one of the five Fox Festivals performed in 2017. I think there is footage from 1 or 2 more concerts in this video, but it's definitely one of the better compilations. What you said about female role models, I think every girl should aspire to be like Su and Moa (and Yui). They don't need sex to sell shows or CDs, they are the most humble rock stars I've probably ever seen, and they are always professional and friendly. There are clips, or one clip, of them after the Colbert show from 2015 or 2016 (?) when they were filmed leaving the building. The first thing they did after seeing the fans waiting for them was bow and say thank you. No attitude, no annoyed expressions, just a humble thank you before they left.

Nice reaction. This is about the most metal song they've done, I think. It's a shame we don't get to see this one anymore. They haven't performed any of the Black Babymetal songs since Yui left, except for one time Moa performed GJ by herself. It's not as heavy as this one, but my favourite Black Babymetal song is Onedari Daisakusen, which might be a good next reaction I think you're better off watching a full concert than a full album. The studio versions are fine, but the songs are more cohesive as part of the performance than they are on the album.

This is the song that I play to people who say Babymetal is not metal. Replace their cute way of dropping rude Japanese words by someone uttering incomprehensible deep growls and screams, and it's a stereotypical death metal song. I love that they went with these (for the most part) non-melodic, not-rapped, not-sung vocals, though, instead of just putting J-POP melodies on top: that would just not have worked as well.

Babymetal albums as a story, I would think that's limited. It's more like the albums have a theme. The shows and Babymetal itself are the story. You are on the right track with your kid, I think. Not just because of the body image of women, but also because a lot of pop music is very bland. The stand out thing in a pop song is usually part of a trend and then it gets milked into every pop song. Music is so much broader than that.
